I like it that since leaving Sheff Utd Heck has not sat back and waited for offers. He went to Germany and studied Bayer Leverkusen's methods. Shows he is keen to learn and willing to adapt. That puts him head and shoulders above the last few managers we have had.

We’ve no interest in developing players and selling them for profit. We’ve brought in a total of around £2.5m in the 4 years since Robinson left. Ridsdale himself said a couple of weeks ago that we’d not had a single enquiry for any of our players over the summer. It’s not an approach that suits the owners - sell players for million then what we can spent under Financial Fair Play increases. That doesn’t suit the accepted budget on the Isle of Man; they’re happy financially safeguarding the club up to a certain amount. Sell players for million and reinvest in better quality signings (generally speaking), then wages go up, signing on fees go up etc, and therefore the amount they have to potentially cover increases if some of those signings don’t turn a profit when it’s their time to be flogged

Near impossible to get into the premier league with that mentality. Would certainly fail the SMART goals that popped up on the other page!

I thought a big chance to get in the top 6 was the 22/23 season. Started that season barely conceding a goal and all the talk was about Archer who'd have made a huge difference but ultimately Villa didn't loan him out to anyone for the first half of the season.

There was no plan B and so just went with the existing options upfront which were Riis (who did his ACL mid season), Ched, Troy Parrot and Woodburn. So endless 0-0s and fell back down the league table.

My hope at least with a head coach of calibre of Hecky coming in is he'll refresh the squad again so there will be more chances in the next five seasons.
