Next permanent Preston North End manager odds.

Before anyone rubbishes this post may I state that I am not "ITK" in any shape or form. However in relation to the identity of our new manager, I must admit I would be very very surprised if it is not one Sean O'Driscoll. The reasons behind this are not related to any snippets of so called information coming from the public.

I have worked for a large online bookmakers firm for several years now and have a thorough understanding of how 'football specials' markets work.

What we have seen with the likes of Billy Davies and Graham Westley are so called "Bait runs". This is where a bookmaker would shorten odds to encourage the public something is about to happen and place a bet on it.

What I noticed today was Mr O'Driscoll's price come in from 10/1 to 1/3 within the space of two hours this morning, prior to the markets closing. This could easily be seen on Oddschecker. In my experience last minute money like this is very rarely wrong. O'Driscoll's price never went below 8/1 since Brown was sacked. This was most likely due to it being a lively runner and very possible in the eyes of the industry.

Alan Pardew's price to be the next Newcastle manager came in from 40s to 8/13 in the space of an afternoon, prior to the market closing once it was deemed a done thing due to the level of interest to back him.

I myself tried to place money on S O'D with Stan James at 5/2 to be informed the market had just been suspended.

As I say, if your looking for our next manager, I believe we will see Sean O'Driscoll unveiled by Peter Ridsdale tomorrow.

Wow, a post with sensible info and not one of the 20+ dreamers on here with post's including the abbreviation 'ITK' and excuses why they couldn't name their 'source.' Thanks for that information.

I don't want O'Driscoll for the simple fact I find him boring but I'd give anyone the job if they can get us winning so whoever it is gets my full support.

Interestingly, although SkyBet have closed their book on the next PNE manager, they have SO'D as the 8/11 favourite for the Bristol Rovers job. Now, seeing as he is unlikely to be rated as favourite by them for both jobs, this would appear to rule him out for us...

All these bookies odds might count for nothing when the outcome is known - plus would O'Driscoll go to the Gas.
