Great story on Shepshed . Preston’s Invincibles even get in there ..as well as a link to a story about matches between Leicester and PNE .. didn’t know that Finney played on in a cup tie against Lewith a broken jaw ..

Sadly Shepshed are gone

It was 5-1

Correct Ando, November 82 5-1, we then went onto beat that horrible lot 2-1 , Don Oriordon the winning goal that day, some rum goings on that day as well! 😉
I remember Clarke Carlisle's dad ruffled a few orange feathers. I went to Elland Road in the next round, my first visit. Let's say it was an interesting afternoon. We also got beat 3-0.

Yes always disliked him as he released my hero Alex Bruce

Gordon Lee was also the Newcadtle Manager who was happy for Bruce to be part of the deal, when John Bird was sold by North End to Newcadtle and " Super Bruce" returned to North End.
The sale of Bird leading to the resignation of Bobby Charlton the deal was undertaken against the wishes of the Manager who decided he had no.option other than to resign.

The biggest attendance of the season at Deepdale for that game just over 14,000, great attendance when the seasons average was around 5 ,000.
No doubt our opponents on the day will claim that they brought 9,000 to Deepdale. 🤔

I used to go on with my dad at that time. He didn’t enjoy taking me at all, even though he’d been a regular up until about 1976 - I sometimes wonder if the Crewe game at Anfield finished him off. Anyway, for this game he refused to take me, I presume because he knew what was going to happen but my mum took me instead. However, children and adults had different turnstiles and the queue for adults was horrendous and the child one was small. I got on quick and she was miles behind. I went to were we normally stood but she had no idea were that was and I didn’t see her until half time.

So not only did I probably cause issues between them, she also wasn’t best pleased with me either!

As you say, it was a rum day and was a prime example of everything that was wrong with football in the 70s and 80s in my opinion.

Love the fact that their fans got excited because some random never heard of manager pulled out all his poor man’s Mourinho acting in a team talk.

They are doomed. As pissed off as I’ve been in my 40 years of watching us, I’ve never seen us 0-5 at half time.

I’ve seen us 0-4 down at HT , in an FA Cup match against Bristol Rovers in January 1981…

Final Score : 3-4
