Karl Robinson struggled to comprehend how MK Dons lost their eight month unbeaten home record at stadiummk as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Preston North End.

The Dons boss, who penned a new deal at the Club before kick-off, felt his side were worthy of a draw at least but conceded Preston, managed by caretaker duo David Unsworth and Graham Alexander, stuck to a bullish and successful game plan.

The deciding goal came in the seventh minute when the Dons allowed Paul Parry enough space in the box to connect with a cross from David Naylor on the right and from that point Preston became a different side as they soaked up the pressure from the Dons.

Robinson said: "It was so frustrating but then again we have won the game so maybe their tactics won. I said to the players that teams are going to come here and take a point, so when they get 1-0 up their going to be ten times worse.

"We let them go 1-0 up by sloppy play and then it was against of backs against the wall, and to their credit they defended fantastically well.

"I thought we had much more of the ball, we huffed and puffed but there weren't many clear cut chances and the reason for that is when they have got eight in front of the goal you're not going to get a clear cut chance because it's difficult.

"I'm a little bit lost for words because I felt we should have got more out of the game than we did."

The game, live on Sky Sports, was lacking in clear cut chances but Jabo Ibehre, Stephen Gleeson and Luke Chadwick all forced saves from Thorsten Stuckmann. However, for the first time in nine matches the Dons drew a blank and the result ended a fantastic run of seven successive victories.

Robinson added: "It was one of those days where it wasn't to be, they gave everything I just think it wasn't to be. We move on now to Leyton Orient away, let's get it right for that."

I liked guy, showed passion for his team and in fairness was quite gracious in defeat.

You missed one ...and I won't even start on the lack of punctuation!!!!

I can't really blame the guy... but he's looking massively through Dons tinted glasses.

How the MK website can say that the game was lacking in clear-cut chances. Coutts was through on goal... should have scored. Parry's goal was a clear cut chance. Tsoumou's was a clear cut chance. 3 absolute gilt-edged chances.

Stuckmann didn't have to make a save that you wouldn't expect him to make.

I saw him knocking back champagne in a MK bar at about 3am last night. He looked to be over the defeat!

He's up for his team. Nothing wrong with that. He had a look at the end of a manager who had "been done" by his opposite number, and shook the Preston bench's hands. Showed respect. Decent bloke.

Remember where we were in the League before Leyton Orient away? Let's hope the Sky Sports darlings start a similar slump at Brisbane Road. It still rankles with me how they were able to move from Wimbledon to that hotbed of football history Milton Keynes. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to see AFC Wimbledon overtake them some day

I'd like to see it myself... but a lucky 1-0 win against Carlisle next week would give me more pleasure 🙂

Point taken. There are probably a lot of things which would give me greater pleasure, including that -🙂
