People don't half come on this forum and spout some short sighted shit.

When we win, Lowe is king, when we lose Lowe is incompetent and a Charlatan. Personally for me, Lowe is not the man to take us forward but that is just an opinion.

Today is what fans want to see, actually a set up that is half enjoyable to watch and one where we set up to win a game.

The problem with Lowe is that he will revert to a negative defensive shit formation in the following games to protect an unbeaten run rather than winning a game.

Let's not get carried away but let's not get too downbeat. A great win today but let's carry the momentum on at Rovers and not wither into a defensive shell.

I agree with you that it’s great to be in 6th place with so many points.

For me the big pluses at PNE at the moment are :

The Board have made a substantial investment in the squad this summer (showing massive commitment);
We’ve signed some really exciting talented attacking players;
This seems to have increased fans’ optimism with impressive +16k average home attendances and 1,600 average away support;
We’ve seen some exciting attacking football (but only very, very occasionally);
Despite Lowe’s limitations we’ve still managed to remain in a good League position.
With good coaching and management we have the players capable of securing a Play Off place.

My concerns:

RL has clear and major flaws -
He seems to lack the ability to utilise the undoubted talent at his disposal;
He seems to know only one method which is to overload the team with defensive players and play on the back foot;
He seems to be a very poor motivator eg blaming his players for his own mistakes;
He doesn’t seem to learn from his mistakes;
You constantly spout utter bullshit;
He seems settled to aim for a mid-table finish.

Our great start was despite some quite poor performances and was down to a lot of luck;
We’re 19th in the current form table with just 1 win in 8 (6 points from 24).

Let’s all hope that the investment made in the squad this summer isn’t wasted, that we get the very best out of players like Millar, Osmajic, Mads, Keane, Holmes and all of our other talent, and have a real go at making the Play Offs.
Edited for accuracy.

OK. But tbf, the main point made was about a much wider perspective that we’re on 25 pt after 15 games and doing well over the season so far… so not really related to the ups and downs of one specific result.

So basically, this is confirming Lowe's reactive in the main - rather than pro-active, in the main.

Am I the only one who didn’t think Cov were that bad?
They were really poor in the first half Ron, wide open, careless in possession and really easy to play against as a result.
Fair play to Robins. He kept us waiting at the start of the second half, no doubt giving his team a proper bollocking, and he made changes that really altered the complexion of the game. They transformed from looking like relegation fodder to a more fluent and potent outfit. I'm sure Cov fans would be thinking why Ellis Simms wasn't on from the start.
Having said that, I don't think we were in any sort of trouble all day. Both of their goals had more than their fair share of luck/controversy about them, and I never had the feeling that we wouldn't win the game after a dominant first half. All in all, it was a very enjoyable match, we steadied the ship and can look forward to the Plastics game next week with real confidence.

I can’t see how we’re over achieving, especially at this early stage. We have a squad of talented and experienced players it was a good transfer window. We are actually underachieving.

This team could be higher, and we’ve blown it, again in spectacular fashion. Various bad runs under Lowe have meant hammerings and many winless games befire we stopped the rot.

We have a minus goal difference. We have won 1 in 8. We have been conceding lots of goals. We’re low in the form table.

Like most, I’d like to see more consistency, and a meaner defence - but equally I know it’s become harder to achieve for teams in this league. However didn’t our defence let in less previously under Lowe?

We’re still a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde team. People like to see development rather than regression especially after 2 years. If we get that and keep injury free we have a chance of making the play offs, but winning them would be very tough, as ever.

So you think with our squad we should be higher than sixth?

You think our squad is better than southamptons, Leeds, West Brom’s? The thing is fans get deluded with their expectations. Have high expectations absolutely but let’s not get carried away.

We can challenge for a play off place but let’s be honest we need a bit of luck along the way. We have some good players but we also have some bang average ones. Our two left centre backs are injured yet again, we have no right back/right wing back tk challenge potts and our defence is average.

The positives are though we have some good attacking players. Mads/holmes/Millar/osmajic have been excellent signings. Our home form is pretty decent. One loss in seven. Our away form is a concern. If we start picking up away from home then we should finish in a play off place.

Think you’ll find that’s 1 win in 7 not 1 loss.

We’ve lost 4 of the last 7.

I see this is a thread for the rose coloured spec wearing, Lowey loving sycophants all who wear flip flops, credit where it's due though as starting with Mads, Holmes and Miller was much better and helped to put us 3-1 up (against a terrible bottom 5 Coventry), bringing on Brady and Woodburn just shows how shite Lowey really is, his favs as opposed to the players who were winning comfortably.

Lowey has already taken the credit for this win with his (they followed the instructions toss), never ever accepts any responsibility when things are poor, I am sure our early season results had some of Rob Kelly's tactics and selections involved, once he was gone and Lowey had his way ..................., bring on my favs and leave Mads and Osmajic on the bench.

Lowey simply HAD to change the starting 11 yesterday as the Hull debacle was so bad, his use of his favs Brady and Woodburn nearly cost us a win yesterday IMHO.

It’s not about having ‘rose tinted specs.’ It’s about not having tunnel vision and being so narrow minded. Of course we could have done better over the last 7 games. We have stopped the rot. Let’s see how we do on Friday.

Cheer up billy. I’ve never seen you support a manager ever. Even your fellow scotsman Alex Neil you slated. You wouldn’t be happy with any manager unless we win every game. Be a bit open minded for once and you never know you might look on the positive side of things rather than being nicknamed mr miserable
For the majority of your life.

We let in goals like water. We are going nowhere with Ryan Lowe in charge of our defence. Do we really need to go behind in every game ?
At least we are consistent 🤣
On a serious note though we do make it difficult for ourselves but credit to the team that we have the character to get back into games.
It would be interesting to see the stats.
Can't be many sides that concede the first goal more than we do or indeed get something from the game.

Yeah it's ridiculous.

I could've scripted the response this thread would receive from certain folk.

Compare Lowe's budget and squad with other teams around us in the most competitive Championship for many a season. He's still got us in 6th with more points than we had at this stage last season.

Some acknowledge that we've done very well and that we're over achieving, but still constantly criticise the manager and point out all his flaws.

Of course Lowe has flaws. He's still learning and will be learning for the rest of his career.

He's not the messiah (who is that would come near Preston?). I said last week I would give him until Christmas if things didn’t improve. But on reflection, that's harsh. He makes mistakes, but is learning. He's doing very well all things considered.

But I can see it's futile trying to reason with closed minds.
It's funny we always have an element who dislike our management for whatever reasons.
Walking up to the ground yesterday a seasoned campaigner was telling me, "if we lose today he'll be potted", I just said there was no chance that happening.
Surely the bigger picture shows a few positives, the signings on the whole are great championship signings and exciting prospects.
The fanzone has been completed, season card offering top class and increased attendance home and away.
So all in all positives for me.

Last season we conceded first in 22 of our 46 games, and achieved a total of 12 points from those specific games.

This season we have conceded first in 10 out of 15 games, and so far have achieved 12 points from those games.

Over the two seasons the majority of those points have been gained in home games (19 points) rather than away from home (5 points).

Just watched their goals at 0.25 speed …First Goal ..huge foul by Wright on Storey pushes him over which causes Storey to half clear . The shot comes back in and Wright is well off side absolutely no doubt about it.
Second goal . Shot comes in and Wright is almost but not quite level with Millar, his right arm is off side( crazy, I know ) with VAR that’s disallowed ..

I said last night it’s not always about winning and losing.
Its about not being negative.

I can understand a few games a season where you’d want be defensive but those apart, we should be having a go at everybody.
Let them worry about us.

Thats the issue I have with Lowe.
Completely agree with the first point, why play a negative way and still lose. May as well take the game to the opposition and attempt to win and you may lose still but least you gave it a go and may pick up the odd win you wouldn’t have
