I’m in Tranmere a suburb of Hobart .Tasmania ..I came to Oz in 1972 for a holiday ..late of a ribbleton and Blessed John Southworth .. also Ribbleton Avenue Youth. Churches League Two champions , undefeated and Timmons cup winners ( played at deepdale ) 1968/69.
My daughter used to play football for Tranmere, the one on the Wirral not in Taz 😆 😆

Yeah, but did you score a Hat Trick ??
Sadly And…I have never scored a hat trick a club I played for in Melbourne gave me a trophy after a I scored my first goal form after thirteen seasons Sadly at in the Timmons Cup Final .I had a shithouse game on a very wet night at Deepdale and had St Paul’s goal attributed to me as an own goal..though I did score my last goal in a proper eleven a side non walking Hobart League two game at the age of sixty seven .. having played fifty two years of proper men’s (lol) I’d still be playing now at 72 but I got a tooth knocked out in an indoor five a side that cost seven grand to replace ..otherwise……………😂

P.s. I. It’s say that the gene pool for soccer players is very shallow in Tassie lol

The anti everything about Lowe from some quarters is frankly embarrassing.
The start we've had, the points on the board, the teams we are competing with (the three relegated sides still with a lot of PL quality and parachute payments) and it's still not good enough. Probably the best transfer window since God knows when and a decent squad of players being put together. Another couple of quality additions next time around and I think top six is achievable. Not saying we'll do it but taking Leicester, Leeds and possibly Ipswich and Southampton out of the equation, it still leaves two spaces up for grabs. Maybe more if a couple of the aforementioned don't kick on.
Why would we automatically presume WBA, Stoke, Middlesbrough and the likes will finish above us. Current league positions would suggest not. They've all been pretty flakey in parts so far this season.
I’m not sure anyone is totally Anti Lowe, it’s just that a few have seen through his charm and falseness. When he first joined us I thought he was a fresh air, a cheeky confident scouser who was just what we needed and I was all for it. Progress to now and I see someone who is too stubborn to change his ideas, is adamant he is always right, when we win it’s because the players followed his instructions and when we lose it’s the players fault. We do have a better squad than this time last year and credit must go to all that are responsible for that, Lowe included. But then he sets up defensively, regular offers us turgid football, is overly defensive and more concerned about the opposition than imposing our game on them and then worst of all, you have his incessant and bewildering obsession with putting his mate Woodburn on the pitch in almost every game. Something is not right with that and it stinks to high heaven.

If he got us promoted I’d build him a statue next to Sir Tom, but as things stand he is difficult to like the more you get to know him.

Good for you playing into your 70's......

I cant even get a walking football gig anywhere even though i have been asking around for the last 4 or 5 years

Obviously an uneven season so far even by PNE standards which do tend to extremes. But if we have a closer look then perhaps we might conclude that in some respects the really good start wasn't as convincing as it seemed and the bad run that followed not quite as lamentable as it looked. Take that start - six wins and two draws from the first eight matches - none of us were expecting it. But in truth we didn't play really exciting football except in a few flashes and there were times when our opponents for instance Plymouth played with more pace and intent. Nevertheless those results weren't flukes because what we had in plenty was determination, character, team spirit and when we got the chances a ruthless ability to put them away.

Now the poor run. It started as soon as the referee blew the whistle to start the WBA match - frankly we were unrecognisable from the team that had played those previous eight matches. We were an utter shambles - nervous, error-prone, hesitant, totally lacking in any cohesion. It was as if none of the team knew each other - it was surprising it took our opponents as long as four minutes to score and we were lucky to be only two down at the break. It was totally baffling - I still don't know why things happened that way. But we began to get ourselves together in the second half and until they got a flukish third we even hinted at a fightback. At Leicester we actually played well for an hour and if Holmes had been sharper with his finishing in the first half or had passed sideways to Potts when he got that chance early in the second we might well have taken the lead (not a dig at Holmes I totally recognise his energy and commitment and his finishing inside the penalty area) but once they got the lucky rebound that gave them the chance to take the lead there was only ever going to be one result.

Perversely the worst performance was at Ipswich even though the margin was the narrowest and we actually scored. It was a shapeless, aimless performance other than for about ten minutes after our second goal when we actually had them on the backfoot but it all fizzled out after Whiteman utterly wasted a freekick within shooting distance of their goals by aimlessly punting it out of play instead of trying to score - I knew then we weren't going to level things. In the Millwall match we got as much as we deserved and against Southampton well there is actually nothing 'worse' abut conceding in the 96th minute than in the 37th. I only followed the Hull match by text and didn't even know what was happening until half-time but when I saw our line-up I wasn't inspired.

Now last Saturday was obviously a massive boost because before the match we were serious danger of getting into a mindset where we felt we were never going to win and the psychological effect of doing so was every bit as important as the three points. In fact the match was very similar to the home wins we got in that early season run - we didn't play fluent football except in patches but took our chances and again showed great character especially when defending late on.

What are the lessons in all of this? A major one is how dependent we are on Browne playing well and providing leadership. He is totemic - for those with a long enough memory there is a parallel with the influence Alan Spavin use to provide but Sean Gregan and more recently Paul Gallagher were similar in their effect. Another which I know I keep going on about is the stultifying effect of playing both Whiteman and Ledson together - one or other of them can be fine because they both bring aggression and tackling to the central midfield but the two of them together deprives us of invention. It was when I saw they were both on the field at Hull I guessed we would be lucky to get anything. Surely RL must now realise that - I will be utterly despairing if he reverts to that formula this Friday.

Otherwise we are fine right through the centre of the team from goalkeeping though defence and midfield to attack. But on the flanks things are bit more problematical. On the right Storey and Potts give us plenty of resilience but we actually have no alternatives though maybe Ramsay will at some point give us more pace and invention there and Millar has looked good at times on the right. On the left we have plenty of options but Cunningham is fading, Hughes seems increasingly injury-prone, Brady barely now poses an attacking threat though he works hard as a defensive sub and Millar while fast and tricky is very right-footed and needs to stop and cut back in to cross at least when he is way out wide - RL needs to tell him to cut in and drive at the heart of the opposition defence as much as he can. Best, of course, is massively talented and promising though still a bit vulnerable against quality attackers - even if he ultimately is a defender (and that is an 'if') I still think he can be used as a left wing-back and could usefully gain first team experience in that position.

In truth we probably need at least three new players - a mobile right-sided defender as back-up/alternative to Storey, a left-sided defender that would allow us to let Cunningham go and not be so reliant on Hughes and a proper left-footed wing-back who would make Brady surplus to requirements. Like everyone else I regard Bauer and Woodburn as already in that category.

Of our currently injured players the returns of Hughes for his character and strength, McCann for his versatility and Riis for his pace and finishing could be massive. If Riis does come back unimpaired then the combination of him and Osmajic upfront could terrorise opposition defences. But that would depend on RL deciding to start with two strikers which would in turn probably mean starting with only one or other and not both of Frokjaer and Holmes. I would like to see RL doing that consistently.

Anyhow the thing about those three abject defeats we had is that we have return fixtures in each case and so can reverse those results. The Leicester and WBA fixtures are the last two of the season but our home match against Ipswich is at the beginning of February and so will provide an earlier benchmark of whether we have learned the necessary lessons. But a lot of matches before then starting on Friday.

I don't know why this needs to be explained again. But I guess some are unable to read or simply only read the comments they want too.

Nobody that I have seen is having a pop at Lowe for winning games or competing with the bigger teams in the division. I, and many others, have given him credit for the wins this season.

However, the bug bear for many was the complete negativity when we play. Away at Hull was one of the worst displays I have ever seen. Millwall wasn't far off and there was countless times last season when we absolutely stunk the place out.

He played the right team and Saturday and he was rewarded with 3 goals (however, he almost ballsed it up in last 10 with his bizarre substitutions and attempt to keep the lead).

All I want, is for us to be a bit more positive. We have some really decent attacking options and at times we have played seriously shit football. Its been turgid. Hopefully we have more games like the one at the weekend as I thoroughly enjoyed that.

There isn't some weird agenda. I just want us to watch an exciting product/'brand' not utter crap (and before the usual suspects start with the 'you need to be more pragmatic' etc, I know, but we have been pretty poor in a majority of our games this season).

You say you don’t have an agenda but then say hull away was one of the worst displays you have ever seen. I mean every match (bar about three) under westley was way way worse.

You say you don’t have an agenda but then had a hissy fit the other day when Lowe answered an interview question with an honest answer about mads.

You say you don’t have an agenda but I can guarantee when Lowe is on sky sports news or in the media you will have a problem with it.

You say you don’t have an agenda but then every time we lose you get all emotional calling for lowe’s head.

You say you don’t have an agenda but then say we have been pretty poor in the majority of games. No we haven’t. We have been poor in some but not the majority.

You obviously think you don’t have one but until we are mid table/fighting relegation then lowe will get my support.

You inability to have mature debate has completely shown you up today.

Resorting to laughing emojis or petty memes to desperately hold your ground like some sort of honourable final stand.

Quite embarrassing really.

Being called 'embarrassing' by the biggest troll on this platform has to be one of the most ironic things I have seen. All you do is try and bait people out, change your tune, and then twist 180 degrees and go back to your original point. Nobody takes anything you say seriously anymore and I'm still surprised the mods haven't banned you for half the things you do (IE: Abusing other posters and simply trying to cause a stir on the forum).

In relation to Ribbleton, I don't bother replying to him anymore. I fell into that trap a few months ago when I noticed he replied to a ridiculous amount of my posts hurling the 'you're crying' line etc etc.

I'm happy to have a discussion/debate with everyone on this forum and I have genuinely made some good mates from this platform but you two are two of the most insufferable posters on here so forgive me if I don't bother engaging in a 'live debate'.

If you offer me 100k, then maybe we can re-evaluate.

Cheers.

I'd be embarrassed by your first paragraph, I debate that it's, a troll is someone who just purely insults people, I only reply in kind.

I think irony is lost on you as a troll would be someone who hates someone (Lowe) for completely random reasons as Ribbleton pointed out early and doesn't change the stance and just continues to tear the person down and insult them, I mean if trying to dox someone isn't trolling I don't know what is.

Speaking for the entirety of the forum as well is such an embarrassing stance to take, it's just shows you having a completely out of control god complex.

‘I debate, that’s it’ - I’d like to understand the debate you were having when you were calling out another posters sister for ‘sleeping around’. You clog up the forum with your arguments on a daily basis and it certainly isn’t ‘debating’. Your petulant back and forth with Thracia was boring and all you did was name call. ‘I just debate’ though, yeah?

I do not ‘hate’ Lowe. I do not like him but I don’t have the energy to ‘hate’ anyone. Do I think he’s a good manager? No. Have I given him credit for results in the past? Yes. Do I think he’s the man to take us into the Top 6 and beyond? Absolutely not. And before you start with, ‘you don’t like him because he’s scouse’ my Mum’s side of the family are from Sefton so that has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Your last paragraph doesn’t even warrant a reply. I am not sure how I am ‘speaking for the entirety of the forum’ - you must not be very good with comprehension.

That explains a lot. Always knew there was something dodgy about you.

I put him on ignore a while back. Forum is far better for it.
