Do you know I genuinely don’t know his official title within the club or even if he is employed by the club as opposed to the owners or trustees. It’s not something I have thought about until your post.
Allegedly he is our CEO - I guess that ultimately if you follow the money audit trail then he is employed by the Hemmings family and associates

What are you currently thinking? Still a load of bollocks?
Well if that is what your Thinking, I can Assure you, I am not thinking about Bollocks of any sort.

Now if you meant in the context of Load of old Bollox, do keep up, I know its hard to on the Takeover thread.

Ridsdale kept opening the door for years "but nobody was there..."

...And then the first time Penrose opens the door there's a Saudi billionaire waiting.

Funny that.
Now just maybe, he kept opening the door and they was like "Fuck it's Ridsdale, Hide"

Something like this moment.

They was there to the right people, maybe he's not as popular as his ego would lead him to belief.

Unlike Ridsdale, who has made a career out of peddling bullshit, Penrose is genuinely well connected which is why he got the gig to sell the club. His horse racing connections can be no coincidence here.

If this goes through, Penrose will have my eternal thanks.

I did wonder why Ridsdale wasn't the one sat with him.

Never heard of the guy Penrose but if he pulls this off he should get a statue.

I was told on Monday that Ridsdale has had no involvement in this process at all and knows nothing about it's progress.

Penrose has proved that there actually are people out there who might be interested, if you actually want to sell. I am now convinced he (P.R.) was responsible for actually putting people off, that's my opinion only.

Not just yours Roy 👍

Is anyone actually shocked Ridsdale has been kept away? I mean you only need to listen to Ridsdale in his tri-annual sermons with George Hodgson to understand his approach to everything.

For all we might debate Heckingbottom's coaching, interviews, tactics, the one positive thing you can't argue with is he's highlighted how lazy Ridsdale is. When it comes to transfers Ridsdale was taken aback at Paul Heckingbottom planning for more than the next window ahead. Ridsdale also kept saying it's hard to shift players because you need a buyer. A proactive team under Paul Heckingbottom has disproven that too.

If that's his approach to recruitment, you shouldn't be shocked at his approach to takeovers. "We've opened the door and no one is there" is a damning reflection on what is, at best, Ridsdale's idleness. His entire approach is to sit around and wait for things to happen. I don't work in sales, but I suspect I'd be fired pretty quickly if I just sat around waiting for sales to happen.

As said though, that's best case scenario. Another thing Ridsdale regularly says "There's interested parties but when you go through with them and talk about what's required to run a football club, you never hear from them again". So one conversation with Ridsdale and they never come back? Seems convenient. It's no wonder he's been kept away from it all.

I'm sure @JK will chastise me for saying this but I think credit has to go to Kathryn Revit for seeing that Ridsdale was incapable of/had no desire to sell the club while feathering his own nest and that Craig Hemmings was such a wet lettuce completely failing to hold the CEO to account and instead whining about referees and KPIs.

From a purely business perspective, it shows how little effectiveness either of those two had in doing their actual jobs.

Put somebody competent in charge, and progress has happened in the first few months, with a deal seemingly concluded well within the first year.

It is certainly looking like Ian Penrose was a very astute appointment.

I have said for years Ridsdale's involvement in any discussions could be seen as a conflict of interest.

I said some time ago when, for instance, selling a car/house or anything for that matter, you highlight all the positives and minimise or totally exclude any negatives.

Peter appeared to only focus on all the problems/negatives for buying the club. Where on earth did he learn that technique for selling anything?

We can only assume he was protecting his position and salary.

Thank goodness someone at the club kept him away from this and appointed Mr Penrose.

Please elaborate, it's just because if I was trying to sell the club I wouldn't want him anywhere near
Me neither.

I guess I was just under the misapprehension that Riddler would be front and centre of any dealings, given his power and position at the club - mainly to make damn sure he secured his position under any new regime.

But then I’m not ITK in the slightest and am pleasantly surprised Riddler seems to have been kept on the periphery of the takeover negotiations.
