Pitch

Pitch

With our next home game not until the 7th, you would hope, providing we don't have any really cold weather, that the pitch should be in a much better state. With a lot more grass coverage.
New grass seed will only germinate if the temperature stays above 8 degrees for a period of time. Right now this isn't happening. Recent seasons, the pitch is at its worst during February. Therefore, I think the worst is yet to come I'm afraid.

I can see either the Portsmouth or the Watford game being called off if we get any poor weather in the next 2/3 weeks..

Based on what? The pitch will not get any worse with a two week break, it will be under the heat lamps and the new tent.

It may not recover as well we need but there is no reason it should get any worse.

Is it permanently under the tent 24/7 for the next 16 days ??

If so, then it might have a chance to improve slightly…

If you look at the forecast for the next week it’s pretty much wall to wall rain , that’s what I was basing my statement on…

I started this thread on 07 December and as you can see I stated any good home form will fade as we head through winter, due to the state of the pitch. You could read it like a book.

Actually embarrassed to be a fan of this club at the monent. I'm embassed for the manager, the quality players he has brought in and I'm embarressed for away fans who often used to compliment our stadium saying it was on of the best in the league.

I will not even think about buying another match ticket until there is investment in a Desso pitch. I genuine believe we would be in the top two with our current squad if we had a playing surface we could actually play quality football on.
The state of the pitch certainly wouldn’t affect my decision on whether to attend a game, or not. Seeing Osmajic on the team sheet could well do

I suspect he’s referring to the fact when he scored that we still had grass to dribble the ball on

Not surprising he’s the player with the biggest drop off at home
I’m pretty positive that’s why he was on the bench on Tuesday as Hecky knows he’s more likely to get the best out of him on Saturday at Boro on a decent pitch

Looking at the video of dobbin scoring v boro on the immaculate pitch, I would say it’s the groundsman who really needs replacing. No way should a pitch looking that good deteriorate so badly in just a few months, correct fertiliser applied at the right time to keep the root structure in place ,
Company down the road from me re instate new pitches, think they have done Anfield & Wembley in the past. Mallinsons is the name,

You obviously don't know anything about being a groundsman, your comments are not helpful 😒

But if the company won’t give the groundsman the money to buy the fertiliser?……………
I agree, the groundsman should be looking for a new job, but because he’s fed up with our owners not because he’s pushed out!
