I genuinely think, barring any major injuries and with a couple of astsute signings in Jan, Hecklefish and McCall can get us in the playoffs - I believe he will get a 'tune' out of these lads and coach good habits and improve their game. I think McCall has a huge influence and this will only grow.
What I have seen yesterday and agaisnt Watford gives me a lot of hope - something I seldom had with that scouse tosser - even on our good run at the start of last season under him, we should of lost to Plymouth etc but I'm seeing something much better under Hecky.
Lets hope I'm right and we have a little joy that has been sadly lacking for many years.

There is absolutely no chance we’re making the play offs this season.
What?

7 Points off with 37 games to go?

111 Points up for grabs.

Of course it is doable. The improvement in the coaching is there for all to see. Undefeated at home with no goals conceded under PH and SM.

No one is running away early with this league this season.

Anything can - and will - happen in this crazy league.

All I am saying is - don't rule anything out.

Doable yes but highly unlikely imo.
Another mid table finish perhaps.

If we can be within a single figure number of points of the play-off positions come the January 'window' and PH is allowed if he sees fit to make a couple of acquisitions then the play-offs are possible.

Massive improvements so far under Hecky, but our defense is just not good enough. We needed to strengthen it during the summer!

Unfortunately I fear our budget for the season has all been spent, and just like last January I'm not expecting any new new signings this January, and because of that another mid-table finish is more than likely...

I doubt it. Don’t think we have a top 6 defence and we don’t have enough strength in depth in the squad. A couple of injuries to some key players and we’re screwed.

The league is wide open this season.

I think we could be set for one of the most exciting and open seasons for years.

The three relegated sides are nothing special at all. Burnley were shite yesterday. They will be up there granted but that side is miles off the side that pissed the league under Kompany. Sheffield United have a good side but its a side full of good championship players, not much you'd class as Premier League quality. Luton have been crap so far.

Its there for the taking but I just think we'll be a way off this season. The way we prepared for it with Lowe in charge all pre season and the shambles that resulted, along with a poor transfer window. PH & SM would be miracle workers to get this squad in the play offs this season.

Opinions and we are both allowed them, even if at opposite ends.

I could say "Good Grief" to your pessimistic view, too.

Not sure where I’ve given a pessimistic view?

Posters are going overboard after a draw against Burnley. Let’s be honest, there has been a massive improvement since Lowe left, but Heckingbottom has still lost as many as he’s won in the league.

Personally, anything above 22nd is good enough for me with the mess we were in when he joined. To keep us away from the drop and to have a few good wins on the way, will be a success. This is a season of transition and hopefully it ends with that fat twat Ridsdale leaving.

If you want to think we have a chance at the Play Offs, that’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it. But I say it’s not happening.

More than happy to wager a few quid for charity that we don’t finish in the Top 6. Win win for all then.

Our six Sept/Oct fixtures have been against pretty high quality opponents and yielded some very encouraging performances: Boro (A), Fulham (H) Rovers (H) Millwall (A) Watford (H) Burnley (A) - so I think optimism is based on much more than a good point at Burnley. I think momentum is building.

Of course it’s early, and things might take a turn for the worse. We’ll need some luck with injuries (and suspensions!!) and will need to strengthen in early January - but I think that, with the current trajectory, it is way too early to write off the play-offs. If I had to bet, I would say that when there are a dozen games left, the top six will look a realistic possibility. Then who knows, give Heckingbottom’s track record.

We've played most of the promotion contenders already, lost to Oxford, who are still on a promotion bounce with 10 men never seem to get anything away at Swansea and Millwall, so they're gone for another season, so while I think the top 6 will come from the current top 6 plus Norwich & Middlesborough, there's no reason why we shouldnt be on for a top ten finish at least.

Couple of mates of mine, Rovers and Lasher both messaged me yesterday having watched us and seen the midweek result, saying they reckon we’ll go on a run and do our usual midtable and threaten POs.

Particularly the Rovers fan who said he was surprised how much better we were against them.

As much as I can see improvements, not sure I agree. As things stand, I’d be delighted just to get to midtable this season and keep away from the relegation battle.

Don’t shoot me down but I think under Hecky, having seen the improved performances I’m sticking my neck out here and I’m predicting…..
