If it’s false conditions in which to train, with the hot weather in Spain, it being nothing like the “conditions at home in December,” then why go to Spain? 🤷‍♂️

Posting that without any context is harsh on the manager to be fair.

He was talking about the match, rather than the training.

Can’t think of a Preston defender I’d less want teaching the youngsters than Storey

Hopefully heckingbottom will be gone by November. Two of the lowest finishe since we came back to the championship but because he doesn't say stupid shit in interviews no one has a problem with him
OK as long as he takes all the skill free cloggers with him. NO manager could be successful with the present ambitionless Dads army.

Have you listend to the entire interview?

I thought it was clear what he was trying to say when questioned on the performance/result.
I have, so if we cannot perform and secure a result in those conditions, but lower league opposition can, what is the point ?

The preseason week in Spain has felt pointless for the past number of seasons now.

We take a team out that isn’t going to start the season with youth lads we also don’t intend to play.

Hopefully this will be the last time - as from next year we’ll have proper owners that get things done and we’ll have a proper team to take abroad…..🤞🏻☘️🙏📿✝️☯️🪯🕉️

It's not about the game. It's about hard training to get the players as fit as possible for the season ahead.
Imo it's very good preparation for an English championship season slog from the offset.

Would be probably much better if they just trained and didn't arrange a game, and just had an in house game maybe instead to stop all the overreacting on here when we lose in a meaningless game. The hype around the fans going Benidorm and then hiking it down to the match just makes it sound like a much bigger deal than it really is.

I’m coming from a place when we rarely lost in friendlies during preseason - not because the result itself matters, but because we are professional and the players/football we are playing is far better than what we’re up against.

It just screams ‘carry on from where we left off’, which isn’t a surprise as we’ve not really done any business.

it’s not an overreaction, just an observation that we are creeping towards the start of another season doing the same things.

Are you confident that all planned training sessions took place and that none were cancelled, because shelter had to be taken because of the heat ?
I have absolutely no idea, but I'm pretty sure whatever sessions they did or didn't do will contribute towards them being fully fit for Bolton. Which surely is all matters no?

Can't read too much into friendlies as they're basically glorified kick abouts. However, just looking at the line up highlights issues and the need for us to get more bodies through the door.

I criticised and turned on Hecky last season but at least he seems willing to change formation. Just hope we see some activity soon transfer wise and ownership wise.

We have a starting eleven fully fit for the Bolton game, able to play the new Hecky formation.

In addition we will be farming out a number of fully fit players who have been in Spain for the benefit of other clubs ?

As some have suggested it seems more of the same, again starting the season half arsed.
