Matchday Thread PNE v Middlesbrough -14-02-24 - KO:7.45PM - Championship

15 games to go….8 home and 7 away.

Can we finish the season as we started with a good run?

As our astute manager has discovered the advantage of playing 2 forwards, cunningly realising that if you score goals not only do you have a chance of winning games but playing in the opposition teams half helps defensively. I’m sure we are now in great danger of losing such a revolutionary football thinker now to be the replacement for Klopp.

But consistency is the enemy in this league, let’s see how it goes, no reason why we shouldn’t do ok, we have nothing to fear.

Exactly, Opponents double up on Millar. Riis attracts defenders and pulls them to the right flank. Hey Presto, Mads has a big hole to work his magic. Long may it continue as our esteemed leader would say.
I suspect they’ll be very careful with Riis after his injury and he won’t start both tonight and Saturday. I’d guess tonight will be the one he’ll start on the bench but I hope the club will have looked at the relative defences and worked out which game he’ll drop out of - if any.

Will the fact that possibly/probably Potts and Browne could be absent from tonight have any effect on RLs decision to play Riis or rest him tonight ? 🤔

I agree. It makes sense to start him against the side that plays a high line / lacks pace.

Got to take care post-ACL. Osmajic has the pace and energy which will do us well tonight and leave Riis fresh to terrorise the Rovers backline
I will take 4 points out of 6…..

Then a point at Coventry will keep us in touch with 6th place….

Just for a laugh I decided to go and have a peep on the Southampton forum after last nights defeat to Brizzle - their first loss in 25 games !!!

Wow, the place is in meltdown , you would think that they were getting relegated…… slagging off certain players and saying how other clubs had now worked out “ Russell-Ball “

They are so arrogant these ex prem teams fans….

Before the game started , one poster said “ there are only 2 or 3 teams in this league that we need to worry about, the rest, we are too good for them “

I call 4am the late night/early morning gap. Totally reasonable to wake up for the match! Too early over in Malaysia though.

Where in Japan are you?
I'm in Osaka on holiday. Normally I watch in Vietnam, where it's 2.45am starts. Total killers and I can't do them anymore🙁

Fair, I didn't really manage to spend much time in Osaka when I went last year, mostly went Tokyo and northwards. Found an amazing sake bar there though, so good I can't remember where it was!
