I went to my first hangers away game in 1987 and we lost 1-0 on a fucking cold freezing night at the shithole ground. The mercers coach or was it Fishwicks?? had to return via the M62 because Scotch Corner to Teebay was shut with snow. Only around 50 went anyway.

My next trip was to see us win 0-2 in the DAF Trophey and get involved in a massive fight on the pitch. For the record I fell, got shit up and never managed to fight anybody!!

Been again once since...0-2 victory to clinch the title in 1996.

So the hangers now come to deepdale and hopefully 3 points this way.

I remember a Freight rover trophey game when we won the game in extra time after being behind 0-1 and the wind gave us 1 soft goal and a fucking dodgy penalty won it. Warren Joyce scored it. EEHH lovely.

So Westley gets his first game at home in anger on Tuesday and the players have 2-3 weeks of frustration built up....lets hope it's a home victory.

Never been there away and only ever seen them once at home which was a nil nil around Xmas '86/'87/'88 or something. Went home straight after the game without any problems.

I went there to watch PNE v Hartlepool in John Beck's last game as Manager of PNE we lost 3.1 I think with Grame Atkinson making his Debut & scoring our goal, also we had 2players sent off & Moyes was dropped from the team cos he had a argument with Beck on behalf of the rest of the squad etc the previous Monday about the style of play. & then on the followering Friday Beck was sacked & Peters took over as manager & Moyes as his Assistant if I remember rightly.

Beck had a few games after that loss, including the 1-0 FA Cup win over Blackpool. He got sacked after we lost to Chesterfield.

I remember beating them 3-0 at Deepdale. Off the top of my head, I think it was the last home game of 1994/95 regular season and we secured our place in the playoffs, the Town End was rocking for 45 minutes. One of the best atmospheres I can recall at Deepdale.

when Warren Joyce scored that pen when it was windy as fu*k it was against Darlington 91

Think the return game in the 86/87 season finished 0-0, with them wasting time from the start with a view to getting their point. Their keeper seemed to be "injured" an awful lot in the game. Think he was called Eddie Blackburn and had a beard. I wish I could remember useful stuff instead of all this sh1t...

Wow, have no recollection of Sparrow or Gage at all.

Paul Sparrow - think we took him from Palace or somewhere, had a greasy perm I think, all a bit soul-glow. Kevin Gage I don't think could have been with us long as I've limited memory of him too. Little winger maybe

Gage was a fullback/winger.He only played the one season for us, before finishing his career at Hull.Peters knew him from his time at Wimbledon, and although he never got rave reviews he was the type of steady old pro that promotion winning teams need.Sparrow sas a young fullback signed from Palace who after playing a few 1st team games for us went to Rochdale, before finishing his career at Lancaster and Stalybridge. Yes I have nothing else to do today...

We started that season with Cartwright playing wide on the right and providing the pace. When he got injured they brought in Kilbane on the left and Gage took over on the right hand side of midfield. Sparrow for some reason was brought in and replaced Andy Fensome for the last 18 games of the season. I could never understand why we did that. Fensome had been player of the season the year before.

What was that other RB called who played in the div 3 championship season? Charlie something on loan from Barnsley maybe?

I knew Andy back then and to his credit it stayed privately with him but his exclusion wasn't football or form related! pretty shabbily treated really.
