Another day, another From the Finney Meets... We caught up with Will Hayhurst for this one and spoke about his time supporting North End as a boy, his time at the club and his early retirement from the professional game at just 23. Check it out, let us know what you think. It's only just over 30 minutes or so this one.
Podcast
Not wanting to blow our own trumpet but we reckon this is one of the best episodes we've published. It's a must-listen, in our opinion.
For this episode, we were joined by Kieran Maguire who was described by one football club owner as "football finance's fucking rain man". We discussed finances and ownership at North End, the widespread financial impact of COVID-19 on football and how it could shape both the loan market and transfer market in the future.
If you do listen, thank you and enjoy.

After ironing out some issues (hopefully) with our podcast website, I can now link to our newest episode with a bit more confidence.
We had Mark Lawrenson on as a guest for this week's episode. We looked ahead to the season restart and what we think could happen. We discussed a transfer rumour that would more than likely piss them off down the M55 if it were to happen and much more. Lawro was brilliant and has said he'll be back after the season. Hopefully, you enjoy it!

I enjoyed it and could recommend it. Some facts need challenging, but it's a great chat with Lawro. After ironing out some issues (hopefully) with our podcast website, I can now link to our newest episode with a bit more confidence.

The club aren't happy about FTF criticising them. Wait until they see what some of the other blogs have been saying...
Not sure what the issue is but I would say I've enjoyed listening to some of their podcasts. It is refreshing to listen to some PNE content which contains independent analysis and opinions on all things North End.
That isn't really available from the local media, who seem to tow the club's line on everything.
They should keep on doing what they're doing.

I'd mentioned on another thread about how I think Radio Lancs seems a bit too player an club friendly for my liking now. I know John Roper still sometimes goes on there, but apart from that, you just get the odd text after a game. They seem to be up the players arses for me. They are supposed to be our voice an ask questions that we like the answers to. Doesn't seem to happen in my opinionNot sure what the issue is but I would say I've enjoyed listening to some of their podcasts. The BBC, Lancs Live, Blog Preston and LEP are far too nice and let far too much go with PNE. If you want proper opinions, you go out and find independent fan-run media.

Radio Lancs used to have that phone in though after the game, an if things wern't going great, someone would come on an let you know! We don't have that now an it infuriates me. Was driving home before an Andy Bayes is going on about, "Well if the fans were there, it would've spurred North End on. Same for every team Bayes! I think it's a good job, the fans haven't been there, otherwise the atmosphere would have been beyond toxic! The BBC, Lancs Live, Blog Preston and LEP are far too nice and let far too much go with PNE. If I'm honest, the club need to get with the times and embrace that the fanbase is made up of passionate people with opinions, and that's no bad thing when it comes to engagement with the club.
Fact is, if you didn't care you wouldn't be talking about the club at all - and it's better to care and really say what you feel. Every club up and down the land knows that having a thick skin is important and talking about the game is the bread and butter of footie fans all over the world.
If the club are too insecure to try and let that discourse exist that's a big shame in my view. You can't control the message as a club entirely, and nor should you. Let people get excited about the club, the rights and wrongs, and if the people in charge can't get on board with that then they shouldn't be running a football club.
End of the day, you don't even have an obligation to present a balanced view. You're not traditional media. You do you and the club will adapt or die (hopefully the former).
If I were running things at North End I'd have you lads involved more, not shut out.

I find it incredible that a club, who have presented it's fans with endless false dawns over the years can have the audacity to question our criticisms. It just shows how out of touch the hierarchy within the club isIf I'm honest, the club need to get with the times and embrace that the fanbase is made up of passionate people with opinions, and that's no bad thing when it comes to engagement with the club.

It's a small-time mentality, a trap that the club have been guilty of falling into many times over the years.
We're a Championship football club. It's a big league nowadays and it's well-watched and televised. With that sometimes comes some scrunity and criticism. There will also be praise, like when we were in the top two in November.
A Championship football needs to be thick skinned.

Lots of mentions of the club not liking the pod comments but no info to read, what's going on exactly?
Btw congratulations to the pod and the work gone into it by Jake, hours of content there now you should be massively proud.
Slight critique is get more contributers on, let's not just have it the Jimmy show eh 😉

To be fair, Jimmy's been promoted from 'contributer' to 'co-host' now. Well deserved promotion too, imo. 😉Lots of mentions of the club not liking the pod comments but no info to read, what's going on exactly?

Thanks for the kind words, it's a lot of work but in a strange way, I'm fortunate that I've got the time due to be being furloughed to put more time into it of late. And of course my Mrs, she's not too hard a taskmaster around the house and is quite flexible about the footy.
