Pre-season training.

Pre-season training.

We have to hope that there's one or two of the outcasts who have a bit of Mark Rankine attitude in them rather than David Healy.

We aren't going to get rid of even a quarter of them in my opinion and certainly aren't going to manage to replace them with any sort of quality so need 2 or 3 of them to respond positively rather than continuing to sulk.

Unfortunately, I think the damage may have been done and we're in for a very long season.

We will be signing players whether or not they have left. It's easy enough to keep them well away from the rest of the squad if that's what's wanted.

How does that fit with the requirement to sort out the finances then?

As I see it, we have most of these players whether we want them or not and it would continue the irresponsibility to replace them when we are already paying them.

There may well be a couple of bad apples amongst them but I've certainly never detected a lack of effort or commitment in Elliot, Collins, Nolan and Hart for example (ability possibly...)

Personally I think they would all benefit from moving on a some faces clearly don't fit and others aren't good enough to take us where we need to be on the pitch but until then surely it has to be up to Ferguson to get a performance out of them when required? We can't continue carrying such waste financially - if they are paid then they need to contribute something and throwing them in with the reserves just looks childish.

They are not going to go to a club paying lower wages without a payoff from PNE.

I woudn't say that throwing them in with the reserves, if true, is chidish. It is an attempt by PNE to try to force them to leave by making it abundantly clear that there is no going back on the decision. However, as I stated above, I fear that the 8 will be united in demanding compensation to leave.
