The home leg on Friday is on my 38th wedding anniversary. Hopefully we will go into the away leg with a two goal lead, one goal for my husband and one goal for me - actually maybe three goals an extra one for our staying power 😱 Well that would only be fair.😉

Well Joan that means that you were married just after our promotion to Division2 under Alan Ball Senior ?

What a lovely spring that year and what a season! - happy aniv. for Friday.

I agree. Long may we remain "unfancied" by the media. Yesterday Radio (East) Lancs iterated that Alex Ferguson fancied "Burnley to win" the play-offs. I really doubt he cares, but it just shows how low the media sink to get a soundbite.

If we go about our job diligently, maintain this glorious run of results, we'll be the one's smiling as we end May. We few, we lucky few, we band of brothers (er, and sisters)!

"If Burnley makes it, their cup exploits against Premier League opposition suggest they can handle the pressure. Their ability to play free flowing football will make them very watchable."

It amazes me how these apparent experts think that because Burnley had a couple of decent cup games this season they'd be ok in the Premier league. FFS.

Jeez, on that basis, we were unlucky against a strong Liverpool side. One-off matches are one thing, the league would be a different prospect. Otherwise, teams like Tranmere would have stormed the leagues and the Premiership not too long ago.

And try and not get a little bit annoyed...

Expect more of this from Tony Cascarino and Chris Kamara...
Because we are the "little club", even smaller than Burnley as this would suggest...

What a stupid article, your comment 'In the unlikely event of Preston playing in the Premier League'is offensive to supporters who have watched this side beat Wolves and Birmingham on there own grounds and take four points off Reading. Get to know a team before you pass judgement on it.
p.s. Ask Cardiff City if they think 6-0 was a fair result.

I take it this is your reply on the blog site?

Couldn't give a shit about the patronising twerps who penned that article. They know nothing about Preston North End or the clubs who have been promoted from the Championship and stayed up without spending tens of millions in their first season. Piss poor article that looks like it was written for year 10 PE homework.

I honestly think that Hull first half of the season showed you can make an impact if you sign the right players. Most importantly Boateng, but zayatte, Geovanni, Cousin and even Marlon King pre xmas all made an impact.

AI is a better manger then Brown IMO because I think Brown is an utter shithouse. But Brown I think showed the way newly promoted clubs need to go about signing players for the new campaign (unless you are stoke and only have a plan A). I believe if AI followed a similar plan, he'd be able to steer us to safety. Make 2 or 3 signings of real quality and fuck frittering untold amounts on decent/good championship players.

if we got up.

Odd way to sum it up though. Hull had a storming start and some results you can only dream off. But it's the long ball and unspectacular signings that actually appears to be more likely to stay up. Hare and the tortoise and all that.

"Lively YOUNG Burnley side ? "

Exactly what is the average age of their first 15 players ?

( Off the top of my head - I don't think they are that young, are they ? )

we cant fashion a stoke type side out of the current squad we have. If we already had a team of 6 foot odd, physical players then we could possibly go for it. Even if we possibly had half a team, but we have Brown and Parkin who fit that bill, no one else.

I wouldnt advocate us doing that anyway, fuck it, id rather go down at least trying to play something then watch the anti football stoke serve up week after week. Fuck whether it gets results or not.

I think Hull are struggling now because I think their manager isnt what hes cracked up to be, but I do believe he went the right way in the transfer market for a side like them.

contrast it to West Brom. Easily a better footballing side pre season, but brought in more players of lesser quality and they've struggled all the way through the season.

probably not. I imagine players like Blake and Alexander shoot their average age up quite a bit though.

No it was me, and it's still a crap article.

Blake is 33, Alexander is 37.

Other than that, we do have quite a few youngsters around our match day 16. Eagles is 23, Paterson 21, McDonald 20, Rodriguez 19, McCann 22 off the top of my head.

We are a mixture of youth and experience really.
