Remembering The North End Gentry - Dedication & Tributes

I thought It was...........and when you come to deepdale rd....we'll sing this song for you.

In 1978 I used to go to blackpool tech, once a week....always wore my silk scarf, and Instead of working I would just write all the north end songs I could think of on a little notepad.......wow 33 years ago......seems like only yesterday.........................................................................................................

Wow, Silk Scarf !! That takes me back........

Neil Young 1944-2011

Taken from pne.com
Preston North End would like to extend their condolences to the family of former North End star Neil Young, who has died aged 66.

Young, who also played for Manchester City and Rochdale, was born in Fallowfield on 17th February 1944.

His PNE career began in January 1972 when he signed from City for £48,000 and made 70 appearances for the Club in all competitions, scoring 17 goals before his transfer to Spotland in 1974.

A legend at his first club, Young was top scorer at Maine Road in 1965/66 and 1967/68, the latter effort landing him a Football League Championship winners medal. He also scored the winning goal in the 1969 FA Cup Final against Leicester City.

Young was diagnosed with terminal cancer last month and leaves behind his wife, Carmen.

One of the greatest North End fans ever, would have still been supporting the whites but sadly took from us to soon. Won't be going to Hull (work commitments) but will be thinking of the many we have sadly lost in recent years Gibber, Big Neil, Wally, Steve James, Dave Bolton just a few hope they have all met up in the big sky. I can hear Jacko singing now A knock need chicken and a bow legged hen, RIP lads until we meet again.

R.I.P john hodgson, my granddad. he took me on my first game ever when i was about 3 and i have been a season ticket holder for 4 years and have attended 30 away games.

My dad who died in 2006. Took me to my first game vs Blackpool in 1970 when Pool put us down. He apologised for years afterwards !

I was hooked though and my first season ticket was the Gentry Season of 70 - 71. What a season that was.!

Had a season ticket ever since.

Saw Dads empty seat and it tore me apart.

RIP fella , you took me everywhere.

Lest we forget !!

PNE remembrance day 2011.....

Have a great days boys and girls, but lets not forget those that are no longer with us.

It would be great if there could be a minutes silence among the North End Fans just before kick off but i dont think it would really be achievable.......

Maybe a Man City style turn your back to the pitch and observe a one minutes silence !!

Im sure even the Hull fans would appreciate that !!!

Darren Williams.

I didn't know Darren personally but he's a good friend of mine Brother. He died last year and had his ashes sprinked at Deepdale. Massive Preston North End fan who will no doubt be looking down on our boys tomorrow.

R.I.P Darren. Hope the lads do you proud.

My dad died in 2005. He idolised Sir Tom and got me hooked on PNE after taking me on for the first time against Wolves in the late 60's. The smell of bovril and pipesmoke on the paddock was overwhelming! Had several season tickets on the old west stand and still have one to this day on the town end.
Love you dad.

I would like to see North End do this at home once a season, either first home game or last, surely most North Enders would have someone who supported the club that they'd like to remember.

Or is there some sort of football league rule as to when you can have a minutes silence or similar?

after power to the gentry, the second fav chant was a g, a g r, a g r o, aggro, then come and have a go if you think you've hard enough, I think you're going hom in a fucking ambulance was after the gentry.

don't forget, the gentry where a football firm, nothing more, nothing less, styled on the ultra-violent Clockwork Orange, football hooliganism was the gentry's main objective.

I'm travelling to Hull today to honour the memory of my Nan Maureen Moulding who passed away on 3\12\10 joining her husband Jack and her son Raymond. A life long northend fan like her dad and grandad before her, she leaves a family tradition behind that goes right back to the beginning and will continue long after I myself have gone!

I will always remember the times we spent on the pavilion with grandad and how we spent even more time talking about the match afterwards while you cooked us a 'saturday roast' 🙂 I will make sure these memories are passed on to Molly and Poppy and they will know that we are 'the one and only north end' and like all the family before them this is a choice that is made for them 🙂.

So today is about northend but more than that its about memories, its about family, its about tradition and its about YOU!

Wife, mum, auntie, sister and NAN 🙂

I would say rest in peace but there is no chance of that with you up there!

Thinking of you always lots of love Stuart xxx

Jim Dean, died June 99 aged 66. Worked with the youth team for many years as a volunteer with Big Sam.

The last coherent conversation I had with him before he died was before setting off to Gillingham to the PO defeat.

Willie Cunningham. He was like a grandad to me. Lived on Hollins Road next door to us and I wish I could listen to his tales of being a hard as nails full back for North End & Scotland all over again.
