Remembering The North End Gentry - Tributes/Memories/Dedications

My Dad who died last June aged 85, a true North Ender who attended and had a season ticket from the early 1930's, until just before he died. He was at the 38 and 54 finals, and took me to the 64 final.

Also my wife who died less than three months later last September aged 50, who became almost as passionate about the club as me.

I've never done a Gentry Day before, but it just seems right this year, so donning my Dad's old bowler, and I'll be there with one of my sons who is still struggling. It will be poignant. RIP both.

God bless you fella , you and your son are in my thoughts.

Be strong.

Good call mate it will be a great day.

My dad who introduced me to football and took me to god knows how many matches when he was refereeing the big guns one week and the 'small fry' the next. After retiring from that he did the hospital radio from PNE for 36 years, age forcng him to stop eventually. I'll never forget watching him climb the ladder up the old floodlight pylon between kop and paddock to the box where they did the commentary from. He climbed that in all weathers and never missed a game, he thought all his birthdays had come at once when they moved them into the back of the old pavilion stand. Thanks fella for all the happy memories.

Remembering my Brother Barry (Baz) who was tragically knocked off his Bike when cycling to work at Leyland Motors by an Articulated Lorry coming out of a side street without due care and attention (to be kind), on the 13th of November 1984 at the age of 25.
A much better fan than i will ever be.
I have only just seen this @deepdaledreamer , what a very sad story….

I am really sorry for your sad loss ☹️☹️

Thanks Ando.
It was 40 years ago this year and he would have been 65, in july.
Set off to work and never got there. He was only about 100 yards from the entrance to North Works when it happened. Our kid was on the main road (Golden Hill Lane) and the Artic came out from the side and obviously never saw him.
They completely re vamped that junction after it happened, widened the road and much better lighting.

On a lighter note, i know you often have a catch up - but 13 years!!! 🙂
