RIP Gordon

Best remembered, by me, for hugely improving the defensive aspects of Alex Bruce’s game… with one inevitable consequence!

You're right, and Brucie came back to gain some revenge. Scoring for Wigan, in a win at Deepdale.

RIP. Once sat next to him on a train to an away game - nice chap and a true football obsessive.

Synonymous with an era when the limit of our aspirations was to finish 17th in the old division 3 ( now league1) and avoid relegation to division 4. What is now the championship seemed a million miles away. And Gordon seemed to have no problems telling us that is how we were setting our stall out for the season which was hardly inspiring !

I’ll always remember the banner someone walked out on to the pitch with after he had been sacked “ Gordon -Scapegoat-Why?”. Wonder if the person who did that posts on here?

Got his autograph at a Junior Whites meeting, under his signature he wrote PNE Forever.... they sacked him a few days later! Top bloke RIP

When off school I used to go to Deepdale to see the players as they arrived for training. They used to get changed at the ground then drive to Willow Farm to train. Gordon Lee always used to tell me to jump in the car and he would take me to the training ground (err field) with him and Geoff Nulty. I'd have only been around 10 or 11 and I remember being absolutely amazed that his car had electric windows. I'd spend the whole (albeit relatively short) trip opening and closing the windows. Must have driven him nuts !!

Top bloke - RIP Gordon

This was my first period of drift, away from North End. I had spent the previous few seasons following them avidly but began to lose interest a bit under Gordon.

RIP Gordon
