I just don't think Best suits that position. Pasieck I have seen more from to be able to play as a wing back. But Brady has performed well for us this calendar year.
Think Best may be more suited to playing in midfield. Or as a left back in a more supporting role where he can support from deep both out wide and centrally. But would need to improve a bit defensively.

That's where I see him too. Beaten too easily in 1 on 1's, not a good dribbler and not noticeably fast. Not sure he fits in as a LWB under our system.
Not physical enough to be a CB and a bit naive, also a bit of a waste of his abilities.
Great passer, could we fit into midfield where he can afford to play a bit, get up the field to put a cross in etc. Can contribute defensively without being the last line, allows him to learn that side of the game a bit more. Problem is not sure he displaces any of our midfielders.
Maybe LB if you can get him forward and put crosses in, but you would need someone defensively sound in front of him to help him. No idea who that would be.
Needs a loan really to find out where he fits in.
Yes,whilst I agree he has done a lot better lately he is hardly one for the future and I feel that with where our limited resources that is where they should be directed. I hope he proves me wrong.

But,that experience isn't at the level he would be returning too! Wouldn't it be better to slowly integrate him into our team with a couple of substitute appearances here and there. Yet we seem to give Holmes a run out every week?

Your first point is nonesense. I could name you plenty of players over the past 10-20 years who have experience at a lower level and been better for it -Jordan Pickford and Ben Davies just two examples.
Slowly integrating is ok but he needs a run of games. No point giving him ten minutes here and there. He needs starts. For all we know he could be better as a centre back but no one knows that if he doesn’t have the chance to develop into a centre back at a lower level. He isn’t going to do with a few cameo appearances.

No way is he quick enough to play in midfield. He'd get absolutely run all over.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is one of the best passers in world football, he was played in midfield by Southgate and was run all over by teams like Serbia and Denmark. TAA is the elite of the elite and he struggled in a midfield role over the summer. He wasn't quick enough on the half turn, wasn't quick enough in possession and got caught out multiple times.
Best is obviously nowhere near as good as TAA in any area of the game, so I'd imagine the same issues would apply if he was played in midfield. It's so quick in the middle of the park and I don't think Best would be able to cope at all.
I don't mind him playing as a LB but midfield would be a no go for me. Either way, I still think he's vastly overrated by most in the fanbase and I think he'll struggle to nail down a place in a Championship side at any point in the near future. Desperately needs a loan to L1 or L2 to see where we are at with him.

I don't think it's a case of being "run all over" just that TAA is far more effective in possession playing as a RB so it was pointless moving him into midfield just to get him into the team/to play Walker at RB.
You don't need to be quick to play in midfield. But the time for it to be tried, to see if he could be up for it, would be now if it was to happen. Not meaning for the first team like, but in training and such. Can't see it being tried though. And for the benefit of the team, I'd prefer he develop as a LB as it'd be better for us moving forward given our ability, or lack of, to sign full backs.
But I do agree. Needs a loan ASAP. Could really help with his development, and as you say, see where we're at with him. And I think he'd be good enough to actually get good minutes in one of the two lower divisions.

Well I saw him for the youth team and he played centre half for them. It was Ryan Lowe who played him at left back. The square peg round hole syndrome. He had 1 shitter at Boro and barely got a look in again. I agree with you he does need game time but I am not convinced at all lower level is the answer. Maybe someone in our league may help. After all Leeds lent Greenwood to us although he can't play Saturday.

Playing as a LCB against kids is one thing. A bunch of strikers that are physically stronger, taller, quicker... Or all of the above? It's asking for trouble.
This particular season, what with the points we have and the average number of points/game being insufficient for not to be involved in an end-of-season drop - avoidance run in - it's more important to play any regular members of the squad than fringe members. If Best can't ever 'break through' - then he has to do a 'Ben Davis' this next window.
And that would help Heggy getting someone in the back line we've needed for the past 3 seasons- because we've had the same back line for the past 3 seasons & it's not going to get any better on it's own. We know it's just Not Good Enough.
