Confirmed Ryan Ledson - Leaving

Confirmed Ryan Ledson - Leaving

5 games in, played every game, top of the league.

Time for people to give Ryan some credit and love.

Same with Storey, too.

Pleased for both.
Fucking too right JD been great this season, and whilst last season wasn't his best I thought the abuse he got was unwarranted and I happily told those around me at Deepdale....

Surely once Whiteman is up to speed Ledson will more than likely make way.

Credit where it’s due he made some very timely blocks once again yesterday.

Limited player but it was nice for him to go off with the town end singing his name rather than jeering it.

Cant fault his commitment that’s for sure.

I think Whiteman will need to learn how to play a forward pass before he dislodges Lesson.

Sometimes he just needs to take his time when making a pass such as that one we’re he tried to play it first time and ended up going behind him.

However I thought he had a good game yesterday. Made some great tackles and blocks plus his forward pass ended up leading to the second goal.

Whiteman is a good player but I just thinks he slows the game down to much.

In fairness, he came on yesterday at a time we wanted to slow it down. And we needed to 'look after the ball' as some coaches say.

He's just come back from injury too.

Last season, we played patient possession and build up, to the point of tedium. A Whiteman sweet spot.

If he expects to play the same way, he's in for a shock.

He's a talented lad. Let's hope he can adapt.

Their goal (which had been coming) came minutes after he came on right through the centre.

No. Not seen the stats. Only seen the sideways passes.
Might need to start looking a bit closer. More goals, more assists, more crosses, more key passes into attacking areas. If you were talking about Whiteman in isolation then I could maybe understand more. But you are comparing him with a player who does less of everything including forward passes.

For progression we can’t have Ledson and McCann in the same line up long term.
It will work a for certain away games or to shore up a game if we’re looking to hold on but neither have the same ability as Whiteman to pick a pass.

I'm comparing Whiteman with a player who has started every game for a team that is top of the league, playing fast attacking winning football.

And I see Whiteman as a midfield player who was the first name in the team sheet (certainly, ahead of Ledson) in a team that played some of the most ponderous turgid football in recent memory.

It's not just about these two players, of course. I think Whiteman will be fine.

All I'm saying is, we have moved on from last season. And he'll need to adapt. Hopefully quickly. Until then? Ledson first choice.

Ledson gives 100%, great blocks / tackles, but if we are going to stay up near top, need a bit more creativity, yesterday we had ball near halfway line, there was a few one touch passes between our players, the ball went to him and he just over hit/volleyed his pass straight into touch …. Head in hands moment !

Guess we have to disagree on this. I don't see the relevance of any of that point on last season. It's like you're suggesting Whiteman is somehow responsible for the turgid play last season. Ledson, Browne, McCann, Potts etc all played last season too. Who's to say Whiteman wouldn't thrive in this new setup like others seem to be? I'm not saying drop Ledson. He's deserved his spot on recent performances. I was merely commenting on your snarky remark about Whiteman which just doesn't seem justified to me.
