I listened to the FTF podcast with Simmo on it this week, he comes across really well but think he's probably too nice at times! The North end job was probably a step to far at that time plus loosing a load of top players shafted him somewhat. A top guy who I've got a lot of time for.Sounding out Simmo in case RL goes to Rangers!
yes simmo was always fine to chat away to wasnt he in charge on that great shit show of a pre season to the usa

Armer at LB?
Not sure it was a step toon far tbh. Where we not top at Xmas under Simmo then Whaley got injured and Shaw refused to back him in the Jan ?I listened to the FTF podcast with Simmo on it this week, he comes across really well but think he's probably too nice at times! Regarding Simmo, this is from an interview he did with Four Four Two mag:
"We flirted with promotion but Preston was a very tough job for me. I inherited a really good squad of players, but then a number of issues cropped up which made things difficult. Looking back at it now, I probably wasn't sufficiently well-equipped to handle the situation. It was a blow missing out on the play-offs (by a point) on the last day of the season, but the writing had been on the wall since January (when Preston were second) as I wasn't able to bring in the signings I thought we required. In hindsight, I should have come out and said I wasn't getting the financial backing I wanted. In the end we fell away, the fans turned on me, and after a rubbish pre-season we didn't get the good start I needed to stay in the job".
A very familiar story.....rinse and repeat

Moxon can't be any worse than ledson, and he can slam a free kick in also.
Last time we scored a direct free kick btw? Browne at Wycombe fa Cup? About 10 years ago?

Whiteman against Blackpool about 6 months ago.
Whiteman and hughes have both netted more before then as well.

How many?
Whiteman - 3
Hughes - 2
Gallagher scored a few in that time too. So since we played Wycombe away five and a half years ago we have scored about 8 direct free kicks which isn’t as awful as you seem to imply.

From what I know he's probs something different to what we currently have, maybe closer to Browne, good engine and wants to get forward but probs closer to an old fashioned box to box.Suspect Moxon may be our new Whiteman.

Speaking to a Carlisle fan (I know, they exist) he said Moxon’s attributes are definitely more suited to playing as a deep lying playmaker rather than a box-to-box at a higher level, it’s just that in League 2 he was offered more space to push forward without the quality to stop him. Reckons in the championship he’d be better sitting deep as he doesn’t really have the dribbling or legs to be bombing forward regularly, but does have the range of passing
Also says Armer is solid but mid-table League 1 at best. And that Hunts is massive for them and they’re hugely missing him atm

FFS Ryan lad. Don’t let Ridsfail get involved in scouting in any way shape or form. Even if he just offers to drive and buy the coffees. Just ask Alex. It’ll end in tears!Ryan Lowe & Riddler in directors box @carlisle…maybe they’re realising letting Seani go was a mistake.
