Should Derek Resign?
Yes for the following reasons
His position is now untenable, if he doesnt leave soon North End will soon start slipping down the leagues whilst everyone around us continues to progress
- He has been here for too long with very little achievements to show for it.
- It doesnt matter if you are punching above your weight or not. As has been proved by Dingles and Lashers anyone can get promoted.
- Simmo & Irvine were two of Degsie's appointments and have set this club back years. I'm still undecided about Fergie jnr which is another of Deadly's appointments.
- Hardly anything being said about the winding up order which is just out of order. Fans need to know otherwise why should they part with their money. He is just taking us for mugs
- Not financially backing managers when they've been on the brink of success.

He has presided over a PLC that has failed on the field and run out of cash. He has made some dubious appointments on the football and admin side who seem unable to cope with their remit.
He has told us we are to small to compete but we have spent more money than Blackpool and Burnley who have succeeded.
The season ticket debacle puts a tin lid on it when what was required was some out of the box thinking to bring people back and try to fill 20,000 seats (see Huddersfield Town).
He should do the honourable thing and resign forthwith. I no longer care if no-one else wants to do it. Someone will take on the role. If we are not careful the administrators will be running the club anyway.

You seem to forget that we are punching above our weight though ... 🙄

He should go asap. However, I think he likes the position of Chairman far too much and will hang on to power as long as he can. I also thinks he truly believes he is good for the club. Personally I think the club is run very badly and he is holding us back. Agree with the previous posts too!

I've wanted him out for a while however the above is incorrect.

I thought the consensus was that DF wasn't down to Derek.

That's my point.......
You've managed to confuse the fuck out of me 😀

I hadn't read your post properly when I replied. Luckily, I think I got away with it.🙂
I don't know...
What exactly does he do? Manage the funds? Appoint managers? Agree contracts?
I mean they aren't his funds. If TH never put a £ into this club, we may not be in this division, however I'm more than certain we'd be operating within our budget. Credit goes to Derek for making sure that TH has kept pumping money in, I guess.
He's had a pretty hard job in the way of appointing managers. I mean when he appointed Simpson, the only real candidates were Simpson and Parkinson, both have been found out at our level. He's appointed Billy Davies, a good appointment, and Craig Brown assembled a fantastic squad if players. He's also ridded the club of Simpson and Irvine, although the latter probably wasn't down to him.
Contracts. People have run riot over him on contracts. I mean he's done fantastic business in getting £6m for Nugent and £5m for Macken, but to let, for example, Elliot have a contract of £9k p/w is utterly ridiculous.
For me though, I think the point that rears it's ugly head is Degsy's negativity. He also bores me. He's not the man to instil confidence in this club!

He should go with a slap. !
Sorry had to edit the start of ur post.
He needs to sort the current cash flow problems out and then step aside.
IMO we need a top level appointment possibly from outside football amd will need to be prepared to pay what it takes to get the right person. It is pointless paying hundreds of thousands to players if the person running the business side of things is not up to the job.
A relatively successful local businessman is not what we need.

I think that is one of the biggest bugbears for me. You never hear the other local chairmen talk down their own clubs and they do their utmost to inspire and motivate fans. I am sick and tired of hearing his 'little club' rhetoric and then wondering why attendances are down. It wouldn't take Hercule Poirot to work out why. Also, I wonder about some of his negotiating skills which lets on loan players play AGAINST us! Other clubs insist this doesnt happen, but we seem to allow it - a la St Ledger last season. Utter madness and incompetence! For me though, I think the point that rears it's ugly head is Degsy's negativity. He also bores me. He's not the man to instil confidence in this club!
