Confirmed Statement from Ian Penrose - 26/27

I'm genuinely buzzing.

Admittedly, I was very concerned at the lack of movement transfer wise and started fearing the worst. Think I called it wrong when I thought Hecky sounded annoyed at one point (albeit a couple of subsequent interviews allayed my fears).

From feeling a little low to feeling high. Obviously not done and dusted yet but the business done today and that statement has given me a significant boost of positivity.

A great day to be a north end fan

At last! I'm not going to say I told you so numerous times............No actually I AM GOING TO SAY I TOLD YOU NUMEROUS TIMES!
It's taken a long time to be confirmed but we are where we are. Let's look forward to better times ahead. Our long suffering fanbase deserve any success we now have a more realistic chance of achieving.
Deepdale should be rocking a week on Saturday. COMYW's!

Without wanting to be argumentative (and this isn't directed at you completely I see it all the time), but why? He was brought in as a specialist to sell the football club, which he's doing and I'm extremely grateful for, but why does this mean we need to keep him on? In what capacity?

We're so used to the standards being absolutely diabolical in terms of how we're run at this club someone actually does the job they're paid handsomely to do, we begin frothing at the mouth.

Rather the new lot bring in a fully qualified team to take us forward.
He has shown that he is capable of doing his job, we appear to have secured more sponsorship under his tenure and when the takeover does go through Amr Zedan will need staff who not only support the team, but have shown they are capable in assisting with the running of the club.

Two reasons for me:

1) He seems to have done a great job in the 9 months or so he’s been here. Well respected with good contacts and… he’s not part of the old guard

2) He is a dedicated, lifelong Nobber. It can only be a good thing to have a genuine fan involved at a senior level in the new regime. Hopefully Zedan and co will have the club’s best interests at heart, but you’d hope if there was anything undesirable going on then Penrose might be the one raise an objection or a red flag.

Sure some of this could have been said months ago.....

But what the hell, it's now what counts, been a great day, looks like we are flexing some muscle now, liked what he said, does seem a trustworthy chap this Penrose fella, must be some room for him post takeover.

Think that pretty much confirms the takeover is complete but is being held back on any sort of confirmation to keep any incoming player valuations down or from going up.

Pretty smart to 'sign' Mills now or at the very least, agree to a fee, which presumably can't be changed then 24hrs later come out with a statement like that. Definitely not a Ridsdale manoeuvre, that.
