Because what if you're not on Facebook?

I'm not, so currently feel kind of excluded from this group.

Like I said, what if you're not on the Internet to your suggestion of the website?

If your desire was that great to be part of the group, it would outweigh your desire to not be part of Facebook.

As Facebook is free to join, you're not excluded from anything. You've excluded yourself. Very different.

You don't need to be on Facebook to join though, only to join the Facebook group. As @White Horse 44 has pointed out, you can just email him to join.

I will admit to being initially wary of the "cloak and dagger" approach to the group (and Preston Underground didn't help with this awful name) but now that @White Horse 44 has confirmed to be one of its organisers, having met the man (and he came across to me as a genuine sort 👍), I have joined their FB page.

I will for the time being be watching from the silent distance. Allow the group to breathe and grow with its baby steps.

Lastly, good that they listened to complaints and changed that awful group name.

Yes, it wasn't very good was it? However, how "Collective" is better, I don't understand. Remember collective farming in the former Soviet Union?

I've made a choice not to use Facebook, you're correct that technically I suppose I'm not excluded, but if my only option to engage with the group is via FB, that takes the choice out of my hands doesn't it?

What benefits could there be to join via email? The discussion would be on Facebook and email members couldn't be a part of that.

I was more thinking of the Urban Cookie Collective.

Honestly though you will never find a group name that suits everyone's tastes.

I prefer the new name and logo and to be honest it is more about what they do rather than what they are called anyway.

Failed at the first hurdle then, as I noted earlier.

Facebook is pretty much the worst social media platform there is, with horrendous, well-documented data privacy issues, which is why very many people wouldn't be seen dead on there.

"Open and inclusive" in a closed, private Facebook group - it's almost comical how dissonant that is.

"There has to be an element of control, otherwise it becomes a free for all and any dialogue would be impossible" they claim.

Unfortunate use of the word "control", though Facebook would applaud the sentiment.

Hopefully the group will become more imaginative about how to achieve their goal of inclusivity in future, but for now this is just a Facebook group, with all the inherent limitations.

I will try and update events, actions proposals on here for those not willing to fbook or tweet.
Everyone members or not will be welcome to attend such events as I understand unless attending to disrupt or frustrate the group aims.
There is no reason we cannot debate and suggest on this forum and i will give feedback to the group.

Thanks Jack good to have you on board, the initial group will grow almost 400 have signed up today alone!
There was and is a need for a collective voice.
I accept we do not and will not ever represent all supporters but we will continue to grow and try to add to supporters matchday at Deepdale.
To date discussing with the management catering, club shop, nike kit, unreserved seating, fanzone, safe standing, player staff connections to support and praising our Community Trust work during Covid.
Lots to do but lots of trying to it.

That helps. For me personally I get more North End news / info on here than anywhere else.

Whilst I appreciate that social media is probably the most convenient way of communicating these days it isn't for everyone so if you want to be inclusive you need to spread the net a bit wider.

Early days though & I get you can't do everything all at once.

Some people not allowed to use FB or social media due to job role. I agree a website can reach out and be more interactive for ALL fans.

I was very sceptical of this group to start with, don't understand why there was so much secrecy around it and I can understand a lot of peoples concerns but I've joined the Facebook group and willing to give them a chance to see what they can do
I still don't expect much from Ridsdale or Hemmings but at least they seem to be engaging with them

I see your points but please give them a break... At least some feckers trying and they are at an early stage. A lot may happen in the future. They need to be encouraged.
