Brady is not a central midfielder - played centrally he would just get hassled out of possession every time the ball came to him. He needs the extra time and space he can find further out wide to control the ball and shape up to use it effectively. The only place he would be of any use in that formation is in one of the wing-back positions - I say one of because arguably when attacking he is now more effective when cutting in from the right rather than trying to get past a fullback on the outside when playing on the left. The player who might most effectively supplement McCann and Thordarson in that formation is Potts who looked quite at home in a more central position last Saturday.

Agree about Brady but I thought Potts was poor on Saturday, and so, presumably did PH, as he took him off at HT (unless of course he was injured).

Basically the same team that played at Norwich (Potts in for Holmes).

Think Mads and Gibson may struggle to be fit in time though, so will probably need to be Lindsay and Greenwood instead.

That front two showed a bit of promise, Osmajic looking much more rounded as the season goes on.
I'd pretty much go with that, but KKH looks knackered so I'd consider dropping Potts in.

My selection was intended to illustrate a 'diamond' midfield with Thordarsson at the base, McCann and Brady left and right, and Mads as a 10. I feel Brady would offer support/cover to Meghoma in this position.

I’m not normally one for resting or rotating but Burnley is our biggest match of the season so far and a few of our more important players are either carrying injuries or looking tired - Frokjaer, Gibson and Kesler-Hayden. I’d seriously consider not starting them on Saturday.

Sure but I still don't think being played in that way would suit Brady. Probably better with McCann just in front of the defence and Ledson and Thordarson - who seem to mesh well together - playing as the central pairing.

A full week for them to rest and recover in between the two matches so managed properly getting the most out if them on both occasions ought not to be a problem.

Ordinarily I’d agree and I’m one that often mentions the good old days when players played 60 games a season without any thought of rests etc. However, especially with Gibson and Frokjaer, they appear to have injuries and it might be worth considering avoiding any chance of making those injuries worse.

Fair enough - as you say it would not be worth the risk of aggravating any injuries they might have.

Has Meghoma ever played on the right, to give KKH a rest? Seems fairly comfortable with his right foot.

We could play our youth team and still get a result against Coventry. I’m all for resting players for Burnley, this is the perfect fixture to do so. They haven’t beaten us in the league in their last 21 attempts.
