Team v Notlob

Feel like people are sleeping on how much pressure we’re likely to find ourselves late in the game, now that the 5 in before Bolton has proven to be a fantasy.

In all the excitement of trying to convince Oxford to voluntarily weaken themselves and convince Ty Campbell that Manchester isn’t that bad, we’ve left our squad depth lacking. We’ve got two wingbacks that are only “effective” for the first 60 minutes at best, and unless Small rises from the dead or Nolan has a worldie in training, we can’t replace both in game. The only other options are Offiah and Hughes, at least one of whom will need to play in the back 3 thanks to Gibson’s suspension, or Thompson who has to play in midfield because we haven’t replaced Whiteman. So one of Vuk or Valentin are going to have to lumber through a full 90 which will undoubtedly invite Bolton onto us. Going to need to be about 3-0 up in the first half

Can't get my head round the Campbell thing.
It appears that it is being said that he is a grown man who is still tied to his mother's apron strings.
If this is true, you would think that she would be happy to remove her son from the temptations of the flesh pots of London and established themselves in a small backwater village in the depths of rural Lancashire.
Gee's, is this what transfer windows are coming to. 🤣

They're just being polite and not saying the club is an utter shitshow and he's better off staying put.

Bit like when Brannigan turned down Blackpool because he'd just got a new fish pond.

I was just thinking… it seems none of our young players are anywhere near good enough for the first team. However, are any of them good enough to bring on for the last 10 minutes if a first teamer is really tired?

Surely they can be good enough to do a brief job?

Not really

I don't think I have ever guessed a PNE line-up beforehand with 100 per cent accuracy - whoever the manager they have usually done something I didn't expect so I won't bother this time. But the return of Lindsay in place of the suspended seems Gibson inevitable otherwise the likelihood is that things will be as they were last Saturday though possible variations might be Devine dropping deeper to replace Thompson, Small if fit on one or other flank, maybe if Devine does drop deeper a start for Moran and just possibly a start for Erabi though whether in place of or as a supplement to Osmajic is another matter.

The wing back issue on both sides is going to make a big impact on Saturdays game the longer it goes on.
I don’t know what’s gone on with Pol and Vuk but both seem to have lost that explosive burst of pace.

There is an expression about pace, that the first yard is in your head, the coaching at pne is, set up to be safe, consolidate, theres that first yard gone, in a coaching session.
It is no coincedence that Small came here with a reputation of tearing into full backs, now hhis first move is to check back and view his options, that puts him at least three yards behind were he would have been prior to this negative, protect what we have coaching. The threat has been removed by the tactics!!!!!

if Leroy is as good as the pedigree suggests, him with McCann ratting and the magic of Devine, could be absolutely perfect complimentary motion. Actually quite looking forward to seeing that midfield in action.

Insane what a difference one player makes, take Leroy out and replace with Thompson, all of a sudden it looks a nightmare.

Hopefully this lad from Liverpool in the mix too and fresh legs in Moran and it’s actually competitive.

I suppose a lot will depend on whether Leroy arrived in enough time to get to know the set up of the team during a game.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see him on the bench.
