Team vs Coventry

If we were to revert to a back four then Hughes would have to be one of the central defenders - I am not certain he has has the agility to play left-back in that formation. Frankly given Cunningham's persistent injury problems - why on earth did we extend his contract - the only real option for that position would be Best. As for right-back Potts can play there but once he is fully fit then Ramsay would presumably be the option. But if Best were left-back then the only left-footed option for the wide left of the midfield would be Brady.
Millar will play LM

We would need to go shopping in January to play with a back-four effectively - might have Ramsay ready by December and hopefully we can see what this kid can do in rotation with Sir Bradley Potts.

I think we have persisted long enough with the 3-5-2 system - does it honestly work with our players? How do we make the most of what we have at the moment? How many loans are left to use - isn't it three players? Surely we can borrow a decent ball playing left sided centre half and a left wing back?

Lowe has the 5th most points in the division since January, has us 3rd in the table and we had our best start to a season for over 100 years.

I'd say it has been working for our players.

Maybe it's the recency effect of the last few games without a win. Great to have such balanced debate on here like civilised folk!

Do we need to improve the players we have though - how many players can we say look better under Lowe that are still here from the previous manager? He has changed a lot in the windows he has had especially this summer.

defo Pen in last 2 mins v Millwall = 3 points not 1
defo Pen v Saints = possible 3 points not 1
defo Pen v hull at 0 - 0 = likely 3 points.... not 0....

even 5 extra points from those games would have us about 3rd..... and they were all Pens....

Penalty against Bristol City as well for handball.

Apparently it adds an extra 0.7 to your xG if you get awarded the penalty.

Is that 5th highest number of points with or without Southampton, Leeds, Leicester, Ipswich etc - so 12 teams who haven’t been in the league throughout that period? To say our start to the season was great is a legitimate argument but not the calendar year statistic.

It's futile talking about 'what-ifs'. These things tend to even out over 46 games. Are you saying we didn't have our fair share of good fortune during the winning run? Even Lowe conceded that after the Hull defeat, which he said was undeserved but that we perhaps didn't deserve to win some of those early games.

good fortune and good defending yes..... unjust penalties no...... I'm only referring to Pens we should have had that arent really in dispute...

Let's just effin attack the game from the start...
Whitemans job should be to help start play but mainly slot in to rwb or lwb if Potts or Millar goes forward. He needs a proper job in the team as its not always clear what hes actually supposed to be doing

Anyone else recall the attack with 6 Lowe once said...

Woodman
Potts Storey Lindsey Millar
Whiteman
Browne Holmes
Mads
Keane Osmajic

Hopefully:

Woodman
Potts Storey Lindsay Best
Holmes Browne Whiteman Millar
Evans Osmajic
Yep, that would be my team, although Keane starts over Evans if he's fit.

Is that Dutch RWB still missing for Coventry? He looked absolutely class when I saw him earlier in the season and would run riot against a Best/ Millar partnership.

I could even see Holmes playing on the left to protect Best and Millar on the right today.

There's literally no point starting Frokjaer if we just continue to bypass him.
