I found Vortioxetine useful which is a new drug, but the important thing to remember for anyone taking any psychiatric drug is this-

Taking the drug alone is not enough. You need to have a holistic approach, what you eat, how you sleep, your exercise levels, every approach to life needs to be fixed. Drugs alone don't work.

I'm in the process of weaning myself off Sertraline. It did help me calm my anxieties (which were becoming rather debilitating at one point) for a time during some difficult issues I was having and struggling with the adjustments that came with it.

I am in a much better place now however and am looking forward to getting off them, now that I have been able to better re-orientate my life around the changes that have been made.

As @daddyman16 says though, the reason I am now in a position to be getting of them is because I also took steps to change things that were required, etc and am now reaping the benefits of this. Simply popping a pill in itself is not going to cure anything and in my case it proved a useful aid to help my mind through a difficult period where I could make the required alterations I needed, that I no longer needed them.

It wouldn’t surprise me - watched Dopesick with Michael Keaton about the opioid epidemic in America - quite shocking really. The issue is, and I don’t think the article says this although I only skimmed it, is that if anti-depressants aren’t the answer and it’s not a chemical imbalance, then what’s going on? Equally curious that it’s a psychologist/psychiatrist suggesting it’s traumatic event. If NICE have conducted a review and determined that anti-depressants are the “best” current solution based on current understanding that’s the best export knowledge we can work from. I do agree though that all the other elements such as diet, exercise, sleep and counselling should be utilised as part of a holistic approach.

Why do they that one size fits all. what is good for one does not necessarily help another.
