Ive just watched the highlights of the Crewe friendly on WW. I could not help but be totally impressed with the training facilities at Crewe. They looked outstanding. Yes they had a dome for indoor training etc. I think its imperative that our facilities are brought up to at least that standard.

Its no wonder that Crewe have brought through some great players into the game.

I wonder if our facilities is one of the reasons why we seemingly struggle to get players here? I dont know, just a theory.

Re: Training facilities!!

Two words.

Dario gradi!!!! Legend!!! I wonder what he woudl have been like with a few million to spend. I think Crewe have HAD to invest in the youth as they cant afford to pay for the better players and have4 to promote from within. But i think our academy is gonna be coming along nicely. Anyone know for definite if the dome has been passed and work will begin?

Re: Training facilities!!

The difference is they have Academy status whilst we are still Centre of Excellence. We will have to spend a hell of a lot of money to even come close to competing with Crewe in that respect.

Re: Training facilities!!

don't forget that we had planning permission refused to extend/refurbish the buildings at the training centre due to objections from the locals

Don't quote me, but the last I heard was that we had planning permission for the revised design but not the funding in place. Anyone know if I'm right in thinking that or am I spouting total codswallop?

Youre right on that.

Maybe we should spend some of the money brought in on transfers on completing the project. Moving up to academy status can only be a good investment.
