It's also clear none wil resign. Why would they?
On the + side, Ledson has signed and he will be better than all of the ‘big 4’ imo.

The problem we have is that we know that we won’t sign quality replacements. It’s not something we do. All our signings (with the odd exception) are all signed as squad players. Some progress and step up to being good Championship players, and the others remain as squad players.

Ledson will never, ever be as good as Ben Pearson. Ridiculous comment.

We aren't going any where this year, I'd rather sell and actually have some money to re invest. Losing all four and not getting a penny in return would be an absolute disaster.

We have proven time and time again that funds brought in from outgoing transfers aren't re-invested in our playing squad. In windows past we've lost one player here or there, this time we're on the verge of losing 5 key first team players.

I'd happily retain all of them until the end of the season and work on them for that time to try and convince them to re-sign. If we lose them for free so be it

We definitely need a centre back in January to fill the shoes of Bauer in his absence - anything on this front I wonder?

The last 3 letters are key to my comment and we all have our opinions

Pearson is also my favourite player and has been for quite some time, but to say Ledson will never be as good as Pearson is premature. One thing is for sure, if he becomes as good as Pearson, Ledson will be one hell of a player.....and I think there’s a strong possibility of that happening.

He might end up being more important for us down the line but I don’t think he will ever have the ability or quality of Pearson. Respect your right to your opinion though, even if I disagree!

I was trying to be find something positive in all this doom and gloom of losing 4 of our better players.😉. Like I said, the chances of us making quality signings as replacements is not likely to happen.

That will become even more important IF we lose Davies in January.
We need 4 centre backs to get through this season, especially with how busy the schedule is.

We need a powerful, aerially capable CB to come in and replace Bauer, ideally on loan.

If Davies goes, he will need replacing with a left-footed CB and this is something we should have been planning for for sometime given his contractual situation.

I can’t help feeling that if Pearson, Davies, Browne, Johnson and Fisher are determined to leave, for free, at the end of the season we may as well let them leave in January. [...]

It’s hard to believe that any of those guys wouldn’t give 100% whilst on the pitch but it would be human nature to worry more about an injury and as the season was coming to a conclusion when 100% commitment could be vital you wouldn’t want to have doubts about the backbone of your team.
That we should get rid of "the backbone of our team" now just in case (without any evidence) they might not be 100% committed "as the season was coming to a conclusion" is a pretty lame argument IMO.

If the season was coming to a conclusion and we were in contention for the play-offs, with the Big 4 forming "the backbone of our team", it would surely prove they had been 100% committed after all, and it was the right decision to keep them.

If the season was coming to a conclusion and we were in a relegation battle, I'm sure we'd've already been desperately trying out all the squad alternatives, and not just been blindly sticking with the Big 4 as "the backbone of our team". Keeping the Big 4 would not (IMO) be a key reason for a relegation battle this season - overall weakness of the squad as a whole would be a more likely reason, and that overall squad weakness is only likely to be worse if we get rid of the Big 4 in January, not better.

And if the season was coming to a conclusion and we were in mid-table, it wouldn't really matter whether everyone in the squad stuck their flip-flops on early (as they generally do every season) or not.

I don't think there's a footballing argument for weakening our squad by getting rid of our best players now.

There's only the TH money argument.

So what do we feel we need to strengthen?

Same as the summer?

young back up goalie to push Rudd further (as brilliant as he's been this season)

Left back to at the very least compete if not overtake with Hughes (allowing Earl a loan)

CB and CDM - cover for the Bauer and Pearson injuries. But also as replacements for Davies and Pearson leaving.

Winger - an alternative to SS, TB and SM. someone who can actually cross from wide would be nice. The lad from Exeter looks decent.

Wouldn't mind the lad Bryne as a Gallagher replacement either. Think will be room there with Gallagher ending as a player and looking likely at least 2 of Browne, Pearson and DJ going
