I see that Spurs is now the richest club in London, largely down to the use of their magnificent stadium for events such as NFL and gigs by Beyonce, Lady GaGa and the like.

I know Lady GaGa and the like wouldn't come to Preston (and they probably have never heard of us), but surely our stadium can be used for smaller, well-known, up-and-coming bands?

I just wondered if anyone had heard if Craig and Co had ever explored how to make use of Deepdale for things other than football?

It's been discussed before. The layout of the exits and emergency access to the pitch means events are contained to having people in the stands only or somesuch(on a large scale that is, fundays obviously use the pitch and so on)

Interesting. I do wonder if the club have had the wherewithal to conduct a feasibility study in to the work required to circumnavigate the access & exits issue and the potential ROI? There is definitely a gap in the market, with Preston seemingly having no significant gig venues ( i doff my cap to the like of The Ferrett etc). Surely a capacity for gigs with crowds of 10 to 15 k could attract some big name acts?

Spot on.

But there are two types of business people in the world; those who see an opportunity and overcome hurdles to make it successful.

And those who see the hurdles as an excuse not to bother.

Guess which type we've got running the show? 😕

Joan and locals might object, be interesting to get her take on the possibility,s for Deepdale....I'd personally love the idea but it's not on my doorstep.

I guess the only issues for residents would be the noise as the number of people would just be like a matchday.

Think the proximity of houses being quite close may stop them putting on rock concerts.

Huddersfield had one recently but their stadium is a bit more remote.

Especially as they are really a night time thing and don't finish until 10pm.
Even if most residents where ok i bet there would be enough dissenters for it to be a no go'
No harm in exploring the idea though, and these are the sorts of things that need properly examining.

Didn't we once have Billy Graham the preacher once or someone of that ilk?
Given the church at Chorley on a similar slant Bournemouth again hold fairly big events for religious groups during summer or did in the past. Like Jehovahs Witness conventions

I get that. But wasn't there some sort of rock festival on Moor Park last summer? We live just off garstang road, and could hear it. Didn't bother us, but I bet those closer got a good listen! And that was during the day as well as the evening.

Oh ok. But it's interesting that other clubs seem able to deal with things. I suspect most modern football stadiums are built to a similar design - another response to this thread mentioned Huddersfield and Bournemouth, and from what I've seen, albeit on the telly, they look similar to Deepdale

You're right. It's bonkers that the magnificent Guild Hall is being allowed to slowly rot away. The guys that organise Lytham Festival need to talk to our wonderful Council (am I right in thinking that Deepdale belongs to the council after some sort of lease -back arrangement that Trevor did when we were on the verge of going bust?)

Might be wrong but i think the land belongs to the Council on a very long lease, but the Club owns the Buildings i.e Basically, The Stands.
