Jaymo, hope that is not directed at me?
All i remember is that when Shaw took on Simpson it was with most people's backing on this forum who either shouted for Simpson or Parkinson.
I am not and never will be a complete Shaw fan, prime example of my anger at not strengthening significantly in January again.
He is simply all we have at the moment and we could do lot worse like getting a Ridsdale in
it doesnt matter whether everyone wanted Simpson in post. DS is the man who makes the appointments, its his job to get the right man in. Eveidently Simpson wasnt.
Its not directed at you for one simple reason, and ive emboldened it.
The people who annoy me are the ones who think DS should take the majority of the credit for appointing irvine or BD, but none of the criticism for appointing Simpson or Brown. The people who say hes doing a fantastic job by running a tight ship and not allowing us to overspend, but conveniently forget hes run us into 10m of debt clearing up his own mistakes. the ones who prasie him for dragging us to the play offs, but refuse to admit we could possibly be acheiving more (everyone can see the difference Williamson made to the team, imagine if he'd been brought in in Jan when instead of April).
Im a DS fan dont get me wrong, the fact we have competed more often then not in this division, and continue to compete is testament to the good job hes doing. But to pretend hes doing and has done everything perfectly is utter bollocks. I also firmly believe some problems arent directly down to him but are down to others (mainly the marketing and general manager) but if hes employing incompetents, then ultimately, hes to blame.
All in all, if any other chairman did the job DS has done, they would get universal acclaim form the fans, but the fact that almost every statement that comes out of the club has a negative tinge to it, or is a veiled barb at fans, or that everytime we have an out of ordinary game the ticketings a fiasco will mar how people view his stewardship in years to come.
