Voldemort Wins

Voldemort Wins

"Young English players have seen their path to their respective first teams blocked by imported ones. The home-grown youngsters, the odd notable exception aside, either languish in the reserves or move down the leagues just to garner some playing time. They cannot develop the tools to take on the world on loan at Brentford.

Meanwhile, Thomas Mueller and Mesut Oezil acquire their first-team experience at the sharp end of the Budesliga and European competition. They are trusted in key matches; nurtured and encouraged. This German team, with Philipp Lahm, 26, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Lukas Podolski, both 25, as the veterans, will be around for at least two more World Cups and have already been to a semi-final and European Championship final.

And it is the suitability of the Bundesliga for their development that has made it so. German clubs are still happy to 'risk' younger players in the first team while English teams limit their graduates to the odd end of season run out or League Cup appearance. Almost all of the victorious under-21 European championship squad are playing regularly in the German top-flight.

Of the 23-man England squad that featured in final of the under-21 tournament last summer only Milner and untried goalkeeper, Joe Hart, graduated to the World Cup panel. The Germans promoted six, including four starters in the win over England, due to their performances for their clubs."

Here endeth the lesson. You lost the argument matey.

To try and compare England's carthorses against Brazil's thoroughbeds is laughable. The South Americans still have the capacity to retain pace and superior technique at older ages while England's "golden generation" had lost it several years ago. Exactly the same principle applies to PNE. We have persevered, nay endured "experience" for almsot half a century and still haven't returned to the Promised Land. We'd better do it darned quick because I suspect Sky may waken up to the fact that the English Premier is vastly overrated and start shipping their money elsewhere.

As always you go halfway there but miss the whole picture. The german players get the chances to play because they are better. PL clubs invest in young europeans becasue they are better. The Germans realised after euro 2000 that they had to invest in youth development and radically changed their set up from the bottom up, creating regional academies where young players could train. They didnt just say "we'll play young players, that'll sort everything out".

Simply saying we should just play young players without adressing the real problems of youth development will get us absolutely nowhere. as Dai Vader said, Rooney, Gerrard, Cole (both of them), Beckham, Owen etc were all given chances and were regulars for club and country before they were 25, but they still havent done anything of note, because they simply arent good enough.

also like how you just ignore the 32 year old Klose from yhour list of veterans. good work there matey.

BC9 absolute garbage matey and well you know it. Those truly gifted players were called "clowns" and driven out and Marsh bore the brunt of Ramsey's one dimensional dogma. This is where you lose it. You distort eveything to fit your own twisted version of events.

I remember Uncle Joe giving both Channon and Worthington their big chance v Argentina and they were magnificent. At long last the shackles had been removed and under Mercer England started to play the beautiful game. Then along came Revie and that was the end of it. Care to tell us what happened next BC9 ?

As for Ramsey ? I'll never forget the lies he told when announcing England didn't produce world class wingers. TOTAL BOLLOX. My dad told me Peter Thompson was the nearest thing to Finney you would ever see in the modern game.I also recall the Brazillian manager announcing that if Peter Thompson had been Brazillian he would have been in their team!

Tont Morley had won the right to play for England in Spain but once again the morons managing our national team ruled him out and took two injured palyers to Spain instead in Brooking and Keegan. Sound familiar ?

So what you're saying is it's not about age, it's about how good they are at football?

Radical thinking 🙄.

He's as bright as a button is our Voldemort. Sarnie short of a picnik, but still with radical thinking such as 'good players play better', you can see why he knows his stuff.

Jay, i just think that its time for a new team with some new ideas and input. I'd select 4 or 5 for the Hungary game without a doubt starting with Hart and A Johnson as certainties.

4 years down the line, that team i picked will have 4 years of experience whilst retaining an element of youth about it.

I could be wrong though. Only one way to find out.
like I say above, its all about the quality of development, im not too interested in experience of our players (obviously most sane people realise you need a mixture and balance between youth and old heads to be successful, but that so obvious it really shouldnt be said).

the old adage is true, if you are good enough, you are old enough. English players consistently arent good enough. Thats the problem, not their age.

Jaymo no you're the one missing the picture as in the entire English game needs to be revolutionised.

Every single last player over 25 to be OUT! We stick with the youngsters no matter what. Meanwhile you cretin we change the fundamentals of our game and go for technique above an ability to run nowhere over 90 minutes. This England system has reduced us to the laughing stock of the footballing world.

No, that's France.

.

Did you not read my post, i said we had to revolutionise our youth development system.

you arent talking about revolutionising the english game. You are talking about keeping everything the same but using younger players. Its as ludicrous as destroying your own point in your first reply.

and of course, you completely ignore that this side you lambast were almost all england regulars before their mid 20s and sill did fuck all, rendering your argument completly moot.

The difference is JTPNE those Brazillians can actually play the beautiful game or did that escape your attention.

so you meant it has nothing to do with age but with ability?

Well done! Welcome to the real world, now keep taking the pills or your grip on reality might slip again.

Voldemort WINS?

For Christ sake man, get a grip. Cringe worthy material.

How old are you again?

Voldemort i give an accurate and objective account as ever. i am no football pundit/master at spotting football talent that you claim to be but when i do comment on events from our lifetime i am far more accurate than you. putting the record straight about past england and potential players. hardly a twisted version of events and i bet 95% of englishman around at the time would agree with me . the other 5% do not like football.

The only laughing stock on here is you

the argument conclusively and comprehensively. You numpites on here who can see no further than the end of your noses have just witnessed your lame argument for "experience" annihilated.

Germany's average age was 24 with 5 of those players coming from their u21 team that won the Euro championship. Under Capello England, in line with your experience before youth beliefs, had the oldest team in the WC. We were systemaically destroyed with consummate ease as was your argument. England were dull, boring, slow, unable to make telling passes, totally incapable of actually dribbling past players and lacking creativity. That wasn't a team it was a great void.

For several tournaments we've persevered with the likes of Cole A, Terry, Lampard, Gerrard,Barry, Rooney, Defoe, Heskey et al and we haven't won a damned thing!

No more debate about "experience" just accept that you haven't a clue what you're on about and in relation to PNE it's time for McLaughlin, Miller, Barton, Mayor and Proctor to be given their opportunity. They are the club's future and Fergy must show he's going for revolutiion and not evolution.

The best thing that happened to germany is ballack getting injured....clear now he held them back

Heard a story about a young Brazilian being offered a spot in the youth team of a top NW club. His dad came over with him and on the first morning of training the young lad was running through his repertoire of tricks to warm up, his father was giving him some grief for messing up a particularly difficult move when the youth team coach came up to him and said "don't worry mate we'll soon knock all that nonsense out of him". They took the next flight home. Can't vouch for the validity of the story as I've heard it 2-3 times from different people with the where and when changing each time but the point is a valid one. British clubs don't encourage individual flair and initiative, they'd much rather have dependable boring team playing zombies.

So what do we do when these youngsters that we have "stuck with no matter what" turn 25? Do we sack them off and start again? Think about what you are saying!

England are the laughing stock of the world? If I'm not mistaken didnt the 2 finalists from the last world cup both get eliminated at the Group stages? Italy drew with a team that contained two players who's last English teams were Worksop and Halifax. Surely they are the laughing stock?
