Voldemort Wins

The German u21 team at that stage were better. The full England team containing the "golden generation" would have lost to them 8:0.

Now you explain to me how a German team containing 5 of their u21's were able to annihilate and humiliate our natiional team containing all the "experience" you have ever craved ?

The other point you miss you twit is that unlike in England most of those German u21's were thrown in to gain experience at Bundesliga levels. Many of our players were denied such exposure because expensive foreign imports had been bought to keep them out. Explain that one to me Sonny Jim ? The same applies at PNE were Irvine announced he would only buy and play "experienced Championship players." As for the youths ? They were told "You are a million miles away from the first team." And to think you support such a regime.

Just accept it Albertan, your argument has been destroyed. You backed the wrong horse. At England and PNE levels it looks like I might be about to have my day.

No, you explain to me how an England U21 team that lost to a German U21 team 4-0 could possibly be expected to overcome the German team currently playing in the world cup.

It is your argument that is destroyed, not mine.

The truth of the situation is that two things need to happen, but probably won't.

1) A limit of overseas players must be brought in for each premiership team.

2) Some sort of national academy must be introduced to implement a plan of co-ordinated education (academic and football), and physical training for the best young English players. Something along the lines of how the USA universities offer sholarships to the best golfers.

That's why we have the likes of Luke Donald, Paul Casey and Graeme McDowell rising to be three of the top golfers in the world. They benefited from an education spliced with learning the technique of playing golf by participating in the US system of combining an academic education with a golfing education.

Our footballers don't have technique, we don't play to a national system, etc etc.

Yes youth is the answer, but not throwing youth in at the very top level all at once. They must be educated and trained from a young age, and must be given an opportunity at domestic level, not left languishing in the reserves only to make an appearance at the odd Carling cup game.

The explanation is simple. Foreign players will gravitate to the leagues where they can earn the most money............the Premiership is one of those leagues, in fact is probably the richest of the leagues.

And due to European law, there is not a thing that can be done about it without altering the European Statute.

We are agreed on this, it is a fact, and unless something is done about it England will continue to be a second rate football (world) power.

Hence we need to start a national youth academy and combine it with academic studies to make it an attractive proposition.

It works in the golfing world, (look at the never ending procession of good young US golfers that they produce), there is no reason it shouldn't work in the footballing world.

things like adhering to international rules and laws dont apply to Voldemort, hed just go and ask them to change the rules and everything would be alright.

Im actually genuinly worried for this guys mental health. Surely the mods have some sort of duty of care and are obliged to at least attempt to get him sectioned?

You can't be serious 'Wayne Rooney' academic studies, I take it the studies would include basic literacy classes.

Jaymo it's called, in management spiel, being an agent of change.

As for Albertan, excuse after excuse. Had I been given the choice my England team v Germany would have featured Hart,Rodwell, Dawson, Huddlestone, Walcott and Johnson. I would also have taken Carroll. We would have beaten them.

We've now arrived at a situation where James, Johnson, Terry, Upson, Ferdinand, King (injured when he went), Cole A.(best LB in the world, what a sick joke!),Wright-Phillips (not up to this level),Barry (injured when he went), Carrick, Lampard, Crouch, Heskey (biggest joke of the lot),Defoe and Rooney should never be allowed to play for England again. Instead we plan strategically which is we must be prepared to take a "hit" in the Euro Championships knowing that our youngsters will LEARN from the experience. Most of you would prefer we still remained with the now discrdited old guard who have been exposed as frauds. It's time for the revolution to get underway and that applies to PNE.

Your call for experience is now a discredited dogma. Perhaps just one "experienced" player would be allowed to provide a guiding hand i.e. Gerrard but then the proverbial is about to hit the fan with him and many of you already know what I'm talking about.

Voldemort. It looks as though Mark Reynolds won't be coming to us.

"Craig Brown is waiting to see if Billy Davies is keen on signing Mark Reynolds

The Motherwell manager knows that the defender is likely to leave Fir Park this summer but would welcome him joining Davies, Brown's former assistant at Preston, at the City Ground.

"Mark Reynolds deserves the best move he can get and the club is supportive of his move because it would benefit the club financially but also because it would benefit Mark and he has been such a good servant here," said ex-Scotland boss Brown, who has been in contact with Davies to see if he is keen.

"I think Nottingham would be excellent for him. I know their two centre-backs and I think he's at least as good or better than them, that's my considered and humble opinion.

"He would strengthen Nottingham Forest in my opinion but I'm not picking Billy's team for him as Billy would tell you.

"We are good friends and he knows what I think of Mark Reynolds and we have very seldom differed on the opinion of a player. We still agree on the quality of a football player."

23-year-old Reynolds has come through the ranks to make nearly 150 SPL appearances".

don't make me laugh, we would have been smashed with that team. Germanys youth is better than ours....fact! And due to that they are able to play in their senior team...they are good enough too. Our younger lads aren't good enough. Apart from maybe Adam Johnson I wouldn't have played any. Walcotts young enough, played in the under 21 final like the german lads but proved before the world cup he wasn't quite there. If he was good enough he would have been played.

You're certifiable cha, absolutely mental.

I take your point outreacher re the likes of Wayne Rooney, but the offer of an academic and football education would attract possibly a more intelligent person to the game. That is part of the point I am making.

Several on that England team v Germany didn't show much intelligence did they? We need a 'brighter' player to represent England.

It would also help if we had either goal line technology, or assistant referees with a tad better eyesight than Mr Magoo.

Every 16-19 year old apprentice up and down the country are already doing this. It's called the Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence and many of the country's top youngsters have successfully completed this and gone on to better things.

Voldemort mentions the Telegraph in his rant. This is the actiual article by Mark Ogden................A more reasoned discussion I think 🙄

Given the choice, would you rather see your club or England win a major trophy?

Would winning the Premier League or FA Cup be overshadowed by England ruling the world for the first time in almost half a century?

If you have to think about the answer, it merely proves the argument that the national team will always be handicapped by the all-consuming focus on the Premier League and domestic competitions in England.

Club football is currently king in England. When decisions are made about fixture lists, transfer acquisitions, youth development and tactics, the interests of the England team do not even win a seat at the table.

Between August and May, club before country is the mantra. England? They come first for one month, every two years, if we’re lucky.

England’s premature exit from the World Cup is now the only issue for an angry and dejected nation, but how long before those sentiments are washed away by the first glimpse of your club’s new playing kit or Sky Sports’ shiny plans for the new Premier League season?

The Premier League is the driving force of English football, but despite the bold claims back in 1992 that its formation would lead to a stronger England team, it has now become a monster that is mauling the Three Lions.

Too many fixtures and too many overseas players, in a nutshell, are the two biggest issues facing the England team, yet the clubs’ appetite for games and stars ensures that the gulf can never be bridged.

Why should Arsenal discard their foreign stars to accommodate more English players for the good of the England team?

Why should Blackpool, Bolton, Wigan and Blackburn vote for a reduction to 18, or even 16, Premier League clubs – a move which could signal their demise into satellite clubs orbiting the big league – simply to help ease the workload on England’s finest players?

Those will be the responses when it is argued that the Premier League should allow the England team’s fortunes to influence their decisions.

The issue of fatigue is a key one, however, when dissecting England’s World Cup failings.

Wayne Rooney appeared shattered in South Africa, while injuries to leading players as a result of a draining season blunted the performances of many.

Playing in England does not appear to be good for a players’ health. Michael Ballack missed Germany’s World Cup campaign due to injury and there are numerous others. The argument against, though, points to the success being enjoyed by in South Africa by Carlos Tevez. He is in a minority, however.

Even the most influential figures in the game are aware of the problems of burn-out, with Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson claiming in recent days that the lack of a winter break is a central plank of England’s failings – a theory backed by data produced by ProZone, which highlights the increased occurrence of injuries during the winter months.

Ferguson said: “The season we have in Europe, particularly in England, is tough.

“It’s a real task to ask players to perform at the best level they can achieve after the season in England.

“Germany always take that month-long break in January and they always seem to do better in World Cups than anyone ever expects.”

Everybody, it seems, is aware of the problem. But will anything be done to solve it?

On the flipside many kids who are put onscholarships are doing academic courses way below their own, let alone their peers abilities. Its something that needs to be addresed urgently.

So were going to fill the England first team with u21s and leave them in for 5 years , my Question is what do we do with the u21s for the next 4 seasons after the first because if we stick to this plan they will be over looked until the current crop become 25 .

In other words Jaymo you lost the argument and here it is summarised. Since 1966 we have persevered with "experienced" players" who were basically runners and ignored those of true technical ability i.e. Bowles, Marsh, Worthington, Thomas, Kendall, Stainrod, Osgood, Hudson, Currie, Peter Thompson and Tony Morley.

Result ? We have won absolutely nothing. Is this correct

YES/NO ?

And finally Germany (average age 24) 4 England (average age 60) 1.
What was that you were all saying ?

despite a spike ie an upresedented period of reasonable posts between jan-may this year you have reverted to type. you lost the momemnt you left prston for london.

The only way i see to improve Englands Quality is to get them playing for pride instead of money and make it 2 foreign players on the pitch at most at any given time , that would force all clubs with aspirations of premier league or trophy's to work harder on there youth squads . In this country we pay stupid amounts of cash in wages , cap the salaries to no more than 25k . We've created generation after generation now of over paid prima donnas who couldn't give a shit .

You contradicted yourself in your second reply. It has fuck all to do with age and everything to do with talent.

You admitted in your first post that the core of the England squad has been together for "the last few tournaments", but then refuse to admit that a lot of this current crop where all given the chance and were all England and club regulars before they were 25 and they still bombed out as soon they played a hal decent side as they were still shit because it makes your point moot.

I however, said in my first 2 posts in this thread that the entire system needs a massive overhaul, and explained that the germans are currently reaping the benefits of revolutionizing their youth development 10 years ago. And that revolution involved far more then just saying "let's ditch all players over 25" because that would be fucking idiotic and absolutely no help whatsoever. It involved changing things at grass roots development for 8-12 year olds, not giving a 22 year old a few extra games.

This is why you are proper batshit mental, you sit on the Internet all night every night pretending people are part of some non existent ideological establishment that you are point scoring by trying to rebel against, when in reality you have the most short sighted, illogical, ill informed, non joined up thinking ideas imaginable.

Which would be fine and dandy if you were on some sort of elaborate wind up, but I'm 100% certain you are just a nutjob, and I really am genuinely fearful of your mental state.
