Wayne Brown Medical

Aren't terms agreed prior to the medical? Would seem a waste of everyone's time if we got through the medical then realised that WB's wage demands were going to be too high.

12.7 million is what we spent 08-09 season (total expenditure)
Income was around 7 million but can't be certain

That's about right - we have basically been running with a defecit of around £4 million per year. We have been able to make that up in previous years thorugh player sales.

The sale of SSL was meant to bridge the gap for last year, but obviously we know what happened with that. Wasnt it strange how the SSL deal fell thorugh and AI was sacked - maybe just a coincidence?

BG said that when he was chairman he used to spend 60% of revenue on wages. Say if we take that ball park figure of around £7 to £8million income per year BG would only have been spending roughly £4.2-£4.5million on wages.

It makes you see what a complete cock up our wage structure has been for the last few years or so.

I'm not so sure the wage structure was wrong per se - more the decisions of who and what to spend it on. Provided you can find a Nugent or Macken a season to offset the loss then things can work OK but obviously this requires the ability to spot the right players (and a bit of luck). Generally speaking, Irvine and Simpson were crap at buying the right players, both in terms of what they provided when at the club and what they might be sold on for (possibly SSL the only major exception for these two). If handled right, the wage bill could have been sustainable. It wasn't.

I've said it several times - the decision making at all levels of the club has been very poor over the last 5 years and thats why we are where we are.

The Macken deal came luckily for us just as ITV digital went down the pan - I also seem to remember we were paid £1 million for David Moyes around the same time, but essentially we have always needed player sales to make up the difference.

You are right though - there have been some very poor decisions at PNE.

true, but clearly the amount escalated. 2 years ago SSLs sale would have kept us going for 2 years, maybe more. now it barely covers a single season.

I thought it was £1m up front and another £500,000 when Everton avoided relegation.

Too True. You have to wonder why TH sat back for so long and didn't get more involved sooner. It was his money that was being squandered and he let it happen.
Alan Jones commented in a recent LEP interview words to the effect that TH had finally realised the stragtegy of loaning the club money wasn't working.
“Although he is the major shareholder, he is not a director and now considers that increasing his loans to the club every month is not bringing the success which supporters crave for.

“He is, therefore, offering to take full control of the club and, along with other prospective investors, make a very positive bid to gain promotion to the Premier League next season."

TH is no mug. If he wanted to cut his losses and go he could have done. He lost what, £30 million in the Blackpool Tower sale? I am sure he knows when to take a hit and when to carry on going.

What inteagues me is that since TH has gone on the share warpath, there has been talks of alternative investors - does he have someone lined up already? Also when ML came in, he mentioned something to do with working closely with Dave Wheelan.

😕
