sheffield wednesday have lost interest in mellor
irvine says we cant afford to pay him the massive wages hes on at preston
he also said he would like to sign more pne players but the wages are
to high and and pne would want a big fee.

thanks a lot mr shaw.
we are going to be left with this shower of shit. 😡😡

we need to consider cutting our losses and although this would cost it is better than unhappy squad players affecting the overal morale of the club.

'Tis amazing Elwiss that players can more or less walk out of a club if they sniff something better, even when under contract, but when you want shut of them it's a real bugger.

I think we will be left with these showers until the very last minute, unless by some stroke of luck some team is gullible enough to cough up or even more unlikely one of them takes a cut to play first team football. It's obvious that Ferguson wants them out so hopefully worst case scenario is that they are loaned out with pne footing some of the wages. WDD

Yeh but irvine was quite happy to saddle PNE with these "massive wages" even when he knew we had less money than wednesday. He must have been very persuasive to get Shaw to buy these shit players and them give them such good contracts. Or did he have the photos!!!!
Fergie jr should make life so intolerable for them that they all decide to piss off.
Why can't PNE just make them take a pay cut? It's happening in other industries. After all if we cant pay the tax man we have a great excuse for not paying the players, lets do a Portsmouth and keep them waiting for their money. They might get the message and walk.
Also as I think that if a club is late paying wages three times in one season they players have a right to leave on free.

The LEP article is regurgitated from what was on the SW website several days ago.

Irvine appears to have lost interest in Nolan whose wages are more likely to be affordable than Mellor's. It would seem that his performances whilst on loan cannot have impressed Mr Irvine if he doesn't want Nolan for his League 1 side. Let's hope I am wrong and that a deal does get struck.

Looks like Ferguson's slate them then sell them policy is crumbling to pieces, leaving us with half a dozen or so frozen out players sapping morale and continuing to receive their massive wages and leaving us pretty much unable to operate in the transfer market and bring in any replacements. Appalling management on an unprecedented scale.... surely it's only a matter of time before Ferguson's position is completely untenable? 😕

Crumbling to pieces!! Today is the first day any of them could leave!!

His tactics are all about putting pressure on them to leave - their morale doesn't matter once they have gone. If DF didn't adopt these tactics PNE would be lumbered with these overpaid and under-performing players for even longer and stifle us for even longer in the transfer market. To say it is appalling management is utter garbage - there is no alternative which will work.

I thought it was Agent Simpson who brought Mellor in??

Anyway, it is worrying that a club like Sheff Wed cannot afford his wages and yet we have been shelling out!!!!

YIKES!!!

No wonder we are totally potless!!!!!!

I wonder just out if interest how much it would cost to pay the transfer listed player's wages up for their remaining contracts compared to letting them see out their contracts?

😕

A fortune! Collins under contract to June 2013, Mellor and Nolan to 2012 and the rest to 2011.

The full value of the contract if they won't accept mutual termination which would make it a bit cheaper. I have it on fairly good authority that Mellor is on £11k a week, I don't blame him for staying. 😡

I'm interested to read how you think you would handle the situation...

Ok, so come January the players who's contracts run out next year can potentially sign for another club once the transfer window opens after the New Year similar to how we signed Hart?

Perhaps if we cannot sell them over the summer then rather than lose them on a freebie we can say put a nominal fee on them so they can move before their contract expires?

Not ideal, but we could recoup some money in Jan potentially?

The thing that bothers me though is that we could actually have to rely on some of these players next season - if we believe everything that has been said, do we think that they will perform for us?

Some cannot get worse than last season I know, but it slightly worrying.........

Nolan and Mellor could feasibly be just about acceptable for a returners to the first team squad, should we be unable able to shift them, and require bodies.

For Mellor especially, I'm being particularly kind, because ability wise he is more than sub-standard. Basham was better than him. However, I reward effort, and Mellor darts about like a rockweiler who's knob's just been squeezed by Geoff Capes.

The rest are, sadly, abysmally poor footballers, utterly useless, shadows of men, and characterless. (Thanks for lumbering us Irvine, you are officially the worst manager in the history of our club).

Chaplow especially should hang his head in shame. Such promise, yet ultimately one step away from a complete disaster. With a hairstyle like that, you need to work twice as hard. Yet Chaplow is as effective as a drowned butterfly.

Carter, not only is he weak and unfit, he is clumsy, and he's heartless. He is also fat, and looks stupid.

Elliot is sadly the only special needs striker in the UK, and Irvine signed him. Duped, again.

Collins is a lifesize model of a baked potato, he should leave the footballing trade as soon as he can, and apply for a career in media sales, where no one can see his horrendous visage.

Hart fair play for trying, but simply not good enough.

Trotman I have literally no idea.
