Whilst I’m not advocating we part ways with our manager, I can see the unrest in our fan base in other threads, so genuine hypothetical question, who do we get in if we did part ways.

Lower midtable finish, another summer that starts with the same sort of promises, shifting into questionable or low quality signings for whatever the owners are willing to part with, progressing into either another grim midtable finish or a relegation battle that leads to the manager being sacked and another 532 merchant being brought in.

Totally hypothetical, but....... What if....... There is a takeover in the offing and Heckingbottom is aware that his Services will likely be dispensed with, if or when it happens. The timing of the down turn in form seems to correlate with the rumours of a potential takeover.

Clearly I'm speculating absolute bollox. But.... Has he simply downed tools? He doesn't seem the confident bloke we saw and heard before Christmas.

I seriously doubt with a takeover yet to be confirmed, that the new ‘potential’ owners would have told he’s going to be released.

He’s one dimensional, and once things go south (like last season) is unable to turn things around.

First things is to get rid of our higher earners that offer nothing… I’m looking at you Potts, Brady, Lindsay,Storey, Smith … enjoy league one and Scotland. Then reinvest in some young resale value
How do you suggest we get rid of contracted players that nobody wants?

And we’ve signed young resale value and the manager doesn’t use them/drops them at the first opportunity

In terms of Managers, let’s get some foreign flair that might know a different player market to fish in. The safe British manager approach has got us really far 🙄 and matches our boring as f##k club. Cmon let’s try something new!

Your right, let’s not try and just keep them 👍

Agree, I seriously doubt it as well, but we couldn't know how far down the line any potential takeover is... or isn't. Just speculating (hoping) that, if Mr Imtakingover (if he exists) has got hold of Hecky's phone number and text him saying "you're the first one out when I'm in charge you rigid stubborn pillock" 😂

That’s what we’re legally obliged to do unless you want to waste all the budget on paying them off
I totally understand it’s not easy to move them on, but not signing them to a new contract would have been a good start. We as fans accept mediocrity & as such get mediocrity in return. If a business isn’t performing it changes… but that doesn’t seem to happen at PNE it’s infuriating doing the same thing on repeat. I’d be telling them all it’s time to move on, find a new club or they are sat in the U21s. Drum up interest in them where-ever possible, let’s be proactive and try to shift them rather than just accept them as ‘good’ for the dressing room or ‘mediocre’ championship players. In my experience within the industry if a club wants to get you out they will. I just don’t think we are very good at it…

Yeah , very good point HC 👍🏻

It’s highly possible that is what’s going on in the background , something has certainly changed since Christmas….

Major surgery still required. We still have a core of players who have been at the club that have been here some time who are content to keep drawing their wage without having any ambition.

I was pleased with our recruitment in summer, and it will have to be more of the same this summer.
It needs to be exits for Brady, Keane , Lindsay and Potts as a minimum..

We don't accept mediocrity as fans. That's why this forum thrives mate.

We really do. Not one banner, song or ounce of energy from the fans has made it difficult for the ownership this year. People whinging on a forum isn’t going to change anything I’m afraid. We accept it, year in year out. We keep coming as we are loyal and feel like it’s our duty but in doing so it’s an acceptance. I’ve had a few beers tonight and feel that way out, so going to stop posting for a bit lol

Surely Heckingbottom and McCall must realise by now what an absolute bum steer they were sold by Ridsdale and the owners. More lies than you would find in a political election manifesto or a dossier on weapons of mass destruction. Premier ambitions… nah … chance to buy quality players …. Nah ….. possible new owners with loads of dosh …. Nah… the list would go on and. Sack them by all means if they don’t walk first but how would the next mug fair any better with the same long term players and still no decent transfer budget etc., etc. same old, same old, nothing will change, fans will continue to be letdown time and time again.
