I think it's more likely him and the players have had banter over the season about a shirt that divides opinion, rather than complaining about a Preston fan being near him on holiday. And that was my thought before I even saw his explanation.Do you genuinely think he’d be commenting about our yellow kit which was released 12 months ago as if it’s just been released.
He’s clearly talking about the fact he’s gone on holiday and seen a fan in the same resort as him - which I don’t really think is an issue and is clearly a joke which didn’t mean to become public but if you honestly believe he was posting about the kit you will believe anything

He was clearly cracking a joke about spotting a pne fan and hoping he wouldnt bother him on his hols
Then had a rush of blood to the head, posted it
Then had another rush, deleted it, and will now be shitting his pants and ruined his holiday
Happy hols captain fantastic 🤪

Bloody hell I bet you are fun on holiday.Tbf, I’d dislike our fanbase too if I was him. That kit is also awful.
That makes two of us.Even though I see them from the terraces week in and week out if I’m honest I’d be struggling to recognise most of them if I passed them in the street.
Wouldn’t be sad to see anyone leave, from owners, Peter, Manager, Coaches or players. A few I would want decent fees for but most would happily never see in a PNE shirtStill interest in Ben. Would you be sad to see him go this summer?
That is three as I wouldn’t recognise them. Maybe Potts because of his man bunThat makes two of us.
Ha ha, my brother let me know about this nonsense tonight!
So, this is definitely much ado about nothing but as the PNE fan “papped” by the club captain, I thought I ought to comment on my experience of meeting Whiteman, out of fairness to him.
I didn’t know he was at the hotel until he approached me having spotted the shirt (which isn’t hard), I was a bit surprised but obviously pleased to meet him and his young family. I was with my wife, two young sons, and my parents. Ben helped me up some stairs with our pram then we had a chat on various subjects PNE and a bit of golf, then he was happy to have some pictures with us and we went our separate ways. I thought, and still do think, he seemed a sound, down to earth bloke.
I didn’t speak to him again during our stay but my mum did when she was with my youngest and he said he had been very pleasant to them both too during that short interaction.
The timing of the social media post is a bit odd, because that photo can only have been taken on Wednesday last week - I only wore the hi-vis monstrosity once…! Not that I should feel the need to explain myself, but they were practically giving them away in the end of season sale and I thought it would do for hols!
Obviously, Ben’s post was meant as a private Instagram post and either it was a joke about the garish kit or fans of your team being at your hotel, but given the nature of our interaction and the timing of the post, it’s difficult to take offence either way and I’m much more interested in what he and his team can do on the pitch next season.

Did he lead with the elbow when he bumped into you?Bumped into Liam Delap last week in Mallorca and he was happy to have a chat. Came across as a really decent guy.
What we need is a good takeover……The fact this is even being talked about just shows how starved we are of anything football related to talk about.

And there’s me thinking I needed a distraction from the takeover thread 😩
Seems to me like North End fans making a drama out of absolutely nothing again.

Simple solution to all of this. Have Whiteman announce this seasons away or third kit on his socials.
"Ah its an absolute classic lads 👍"
Everybody laughs, we all move on, we all wait for it to be £15 on the Castore shop in April 2027.
Pretty sure everyone has moved on already to be fair.
I'm offended by you not being offended by his post.
I'm offended and so is my wife!
