Ben Whiteman:- He's a changed man & I'm glad he's worked through whatever physical and/or mental issue he had .
The last two seasons, most games with an odd exception - I've come away thinking that I'm really not been bothered if he never played for PNE again.
Just a contrast- the cliched "Like a new player" was never more apt.

Good interview on the latest PNEPod
I very much appreciated the fact he was willing to take a pay cut to protect staff during covid

Please can we stop him taking every set piece!? If we looked like scoring some I could maybe understand it, but him side footing floated balls that come down with snow on them is not effective. We must have someone in the squad capable of hitting a whipped in swinging corner! And let's not even discuss his side footed free kick into the wall!

Still better than Devine’s were, both of which hit the first man in successionPlease can we stop him taking every set piece!? He had one of our few shots on target that drew a meaningful save from the keeper, direct from a free kick. Please can we stop him taking every set piece!? The floaty set pieces do my head in. He seemed to have stopped doing it, but has reverted back. Please can we stop him taking every set piece!? To be fair, we tried all kinds of set pieces last night but they were mostly just well dealt with, and our main threat from them (Smith) easily marshalled.
Whiteman did seriously piss me off with a couple of those flat diagonal balls though, that just flop out of play and the wide player has next to no chance of winning.
Overall though, he was one of our better players again.

Our corners generally are fucking terrible. This floated high ball to the back post every single time is dreadful.
Meanwhile at the other end, last night and against West Brom we've looked insanely vulnerable to balls dropped into our 6 yard box. The only criticism of Iversen is that he's really poor at commanding his area on set pieces. Worrying.

Need to make sure the Whiteman doesn't become undroppable, as he has been previously. Credit where it's due, he's been fantastic this season. But even the Captain shouldn't be immune to being dropped where performance levels drop.

Really stepped up this season by and large, thought first half yesterday he took a step back to his old self, constantly receding the ball and passing it backwards rather than driving forward. As with the rest of the ram better in the second half though.

I actually thought Armstrong passed it backwards more than Whiteman did last night. There were quite a few times he received the ball and could have turned into space and moved forward, but played backwards instead.
He’s a great young player though.

I'd agree with you about Iversen but......... Against West Brom, Maja? was stood right on Dan's toes, preventing him coming off his line. Yesterday it was that ex shit head, Anderson. I think one of Birmingham's efforts off a 1st half corner, was actually blocked by him, more or less on the line. Again, it prevents Dan coming for the ball. Our corners generally are fucking terrible. This floated high ball to the back post every single time is dreadful.

We should adopt similar tactics, but all our corners tend to be outswingers, thus giving the keeper an easy ride. You ask Charlie, he'll put you right 😁.

I’m sure he can, it’s more about what choices he makes rather than not having the ability. When he did move forward he looked great, just think he was a little bit too safe sometimes.
