I thought he was fucking awful tonight.

He’s slow and negative.

Anyone can do doggies in there and just keep playing the ball sideways and backwards.

He offers nothing defensively and he most certainly offers nothing offensively.

His set pieces are piss poor as well.

Add to that he almost gave an early penalty away with his customary wild lunge, getting nowhere near the ball.

He’s our captain yet I’ve never seen a more spineless player in my life.

I'm still not sure how Cornell is getting as much praise as he is tonight. Took two attempts to catch his first two crosses, when Rovers had their first bit of sustained pressure, he had the chance to slow it down, but decided to try and play it out quick, only to scuff the kick and it come straight back at us. And then for the goal, the balls been kicked in to orbit and has dropped 8 yards out and he's made no effort to go for it. Even if he gets nowhere near it, he puts their player off.

Sure, just ignore his numerous forward passes between the lines, just so it fits your vendetta.

Tiresome NPC garbage. He was the least of our issues tonight.

I don’t have a vendetta, I just think football has changed, and teams can get away with very safe football these days.

I’m not saying he was our biggest problem tonight, but I think it’s fair to question our captain’s influence on the team. For me, there’s a consistent pattern in his performances, and I don’t think it’s unreasonable to point that out.

Saying I’ve got a vendetta just because I don’t really rate what he brings feels a bit petty. If anything, it comes across like you’re overly protective of him just because he’s made a few forward passes.

He’s clearly a good lad, but ultimately Cornell is nowhere near it at this level. He’s never anywhere near any shots no matter how wide and he’s basically man marked by our players at corners to protect him from the ball. He’s appalling. No surprise that our poor run has coincided with Iversen being out

Needed to be given licence to attempt runs into the box last 20 minutes. He did this when he first joined.

Now just doing the job McCann does really so it's a very negative central two. I said this morning that likes of DJ and Browne used to make fun of better Blackburn midfields than this one tonight so that is the reason the record against them has become so bad.

You could see the midfield becoming a massive problem a mile off when Armstrong went back and a similar CM wasn't recruited and here we are.

30 this summer,
thought he was older to be honest, slow , ponderous
no idea how long the contract is, highest paid ,
stuck with him
worth nothing other than the wages.

I’m totally in agreement with you about tonight and the last 6 weeks or so, there was always a doubt that his improved performances were down to Armstrong and unfortunately that seems to have been the case.

The manager does take a fair bit of blame for the way he and McCann were almost in their own little bubble and not really connected to other parts of the team and for Offiah not playing - but the overall responsibility has to be taken by the players themselves.

But what do we know, we don’t understand the game.

I disagree with every word. Complete bollocks I.m.o.

PNE’s fascination with giving the captain dogs abuse for not being Sean Gregan is so weird.

Whiteman brings our densest fans out of the woodwork. People have routinely brought up the fact that he’s statistically one of the most progressive DM’s in the division, but you’ll just get ‘I don’t care about stats, he just passes sideways and backwards’

He played more progressive passes last night than McCann has done his whole PNE career. Who again avoids any scrutiny because he made a few tackles last game
