Excluding Sheffield Wednesday and their points deductions we are currently on target to get the least amount of points over the season.

The lowest I could see was 23 points by Rotherham in the 2016/17 season. The next lowest is 26 points in the 2014/15 by Blackpool.

Looking at our 4 points from 9 games, we are currently on target for 20 points this season.

You have to laugh, after spending more than we have ever before. We look likely to be one of the worst teams ever in the championship. Only the Hemmings and Ridsdale could make such a gigantic balls up of spending money.

Whilst I'm struggling to find any optimism about the entire charade at the moment I'm telling myself we have 37 league games to play and a brand new management team that's yet to make its Impact, although I do feel like I'm sat on a sinking titanic armed with just a bucket trying to stop it sinking.

Last time we were relegated:
Hume 11 league goals
Parkin 7.
Total goals scored 50.

Will we have anyone reach double figures this season?

It really is worth highlighting this. 8 defeats in 10 league games hasn't happened for us since the 1924/1925 season. It's an absolute disgrace and the true legacy of the Hemmings Trust, Ridsdale and now Penrose.

4th in the league in January to this. It's amateurish at best.

I dread the thought of GA being given the spanish elbow.

It's potentially on the cards. Not seeing the performances nor results looking likely to improve.

In that total abortion of a season we were relegated comfortably in 1925 with 26 points (2 points for a win of course). We lost 26 matches. We scored just 37 goals in 42 league games: 4 of those came in the cup win against City. The parallels seem clear. We cannot score and can't defend (75 goals conceded). Surprisingly that year Forest managed to be even worse so we didn't actually finish bottom.

Maybe we might finish above Watford then?

Bit early to be contemplating that.

I highly doubt he's in an kind of danger. Yet.

I checked this the other day and posted it in another thread and it does put into perspective how fucking awful we have been. Thank god Rovers helped us out with 3 points.

Looking at avoiding that horrible record and, maybe even if we're lucky, relegation...

From our remaining 36 games, you would imagine we need at least 40 points and at most 46/47 points to stay up.

So a range of 1.11 - 1.31 points per game.

Over 36 games, let's assume we draw 7. Random number, but around 1 in 4 games end in a draw and but let's take off 2 cos we're shite and will probably throw a couple of 0-0s or 1-1s away in the dying seconds.

That would mean we have to find 33 - 40 points from wins, so 11 - 13 effectively.

Going for middle-diddle, the road to safety is 12 wins and we assume we get enough draws to bolster the rest.

I saw another poster (can't remember who, sorry) who said they liked splitting the season into mini-blocks of 3 games. Given that we probably need 12 wins in 36 (1 in 3), that might be a good psychological starting point for Grezza to approach with the team.

Yesterday was the start of a new 3 game season. Lost. We need to find a win from Wrexham (a), West Brom (h).

Then it's on to Stoke (a), Sheff Utd (h), Southampton (h). Etc.

I'm just starting to wonder if we've got into a spot where nobody can manage us out of it?

This team should be ok in league one but no better than ok. We won't be going back up anytime soon.
