I see they've already fucked off the unreserved seating experiment, brainchild of the extremely useful Fan Advisory Network.

I suppose it's academic when only 7,000 fans want to come and watch.

TBH the way they approached the Charlton Game, they could hardly do anything but keep the prices the same as they have hardly made it a priority.
Personally I still like the FA Cup so hopefully we can go to this and then get deep into a Cup run.
PNE do not make things easy support and enthusiasm is often despite them, not because of!!

That decision felt like a real slap in the face to loyal season ticket holders like myself.

I've had the same seat for more years than I care to remember and always attend EFL and FA Cup matches. So you can imagine my frustration when I phoned on the day Charlton tickets went on sale, only to be told that my seat had already been sold.

PNE really dropped the ball on this one. Loyalty should be rewarded, not overlooked.

Let’s hope this was a one-off mistake and that it doesn’t happen again.

To be fair, you could have probably bought your usual seat (or extremely close) until the day before. There were only about 3k sold by that point.

Actually, no, that wasn’t the case. I always buy my tickets on the day they go on sale. For the Charlton match, tickets were released at 9am, and I phoned just before 4pm—by then, my usual seat had already been sold.

Does it really matter if you weren't in the same seat for one game

I'll give you something... you're relentless!

As I say, you'd still have got close. I checked the map many times and there were no more than 3k sold by the Friday.
I agree with your main point - just reserve them for a couple of days so people like yourself can have the normal seat.

Wait there was unreserved seating? I did wonder why my seat had gone 🤣

Fan Engagement, Fan Advisory Network-style, consists of a few of Ben Rhodes's chums coming up with ad-hoc ideas to "improve the atmosphere" - like unreserved seating at cup games - then implementing them without bothering to tell the fans.

And then repealing them again, also without bothering to tell the fans.

I think you were just unlucky really. I had no problem getting our usual seats and I bought quite close to the event. There were others around us in their usual seats - as well as lots of empty seats.

I'm not sure what was gained from the 'experiment' but it wasn't a major issue as far as I'm concerned. In any case, sometimes it's nice to have a change and see the game from a different viewpoint - even if it doesn't make it any better😉
