Tom Williams signs on loan (CONFIRMED)

Tom Williams signs on loan (CONFIRMED)

It is strange that Posh have allowed Williams to come to us on loan because he has started all 3 games since Gannon became manager.

Cant work this one out.... on the oficial site it's a month's loan but on skysports & bbc it is stating until the end of the season somebody must have made an error somewhere can anybody confirm whether it's just the month or until end of season..?

I think it must be for the season as there is no reference to a month anymore on the official site. Williams' interview gives the impression he is here tosupport our "promotion" drive over the last 16 games.

He's out of contract at the end of the season and he isn't getting another one.

Yup and then he'll be signing permy it looks like!!

DF says - "He is with us on loan and we will see how it goes."

Williams could be on a 93 day loan but with the possibility of PNE sending him back after the minimum 28 days.

He went to QPR on a long term loan with a view to a permanent move but was sent back after 2 months.

I don't think he will be here long term, might be a case of us not being able to bring the person DF has wanted since the Jan transfer window.....

With this signing it looks like Nolan is out of the picture.

Taking into account Nolan is not a LB I'd say the above is bollocks, however taking into account his pathetic recent behaviour then I'd say you might be on the money - I think he will head out on loan.

From what I've heard, he is good going forward (good cross) but doesn't track back. I fear with this signing.

same here. why are peterbrough letting him go? obviously not an important player in a sh*t team so shouldnt be good enough for us!

It's a strange one. Does he not want to be there anymore, believes himself better than a L1 defender and wants to prove himself at this level?

No idea but it seems odd that a player DF let out on Loan, while at boro, is good enough for us here.

Perhaps they are into swinging and it's a good way to travel the country looking for parties?

let's face it, a player played in position has GOT to be better than what we have, and have seen of-late. For me this kills 2 birds with one stone: we have a proven LB plus Jonesy can be moved back into his - much more effective - natural position. No-one can argue that Jones and Hart have looked comfortable in their respective roles and surely Hart will be moved-on in the Summer.

Whether Williams' loan deal is with a view to a permanent move or not, and whether it means the end of Cal, matters not. What is important is that we crack on, score enough points to be assured of safety then allow Fergie to slowly allow his squad to evolve.

Provided we do survive, I think the changes we have seen so far will amount to very little compared to those when season 2010/11 starts in August.

In summary, good move for me and all concerned, as one would have to suggest Posh are already reducing their wage-bill with CC1 in mind
