I haven't Jake, but I still think the length of bans are ott.

That's how totting up works sadly, like I (and others) have said. We've given them every opportunity to reign it in, don't blame us for how they behave

omg - my science teacher would have gone mental. LABEL your axes BOY!! And get a bloody TITLE on there. 😛

I deliberately removed them but if you want to see my working out

I have no clue what’s gone on (if anything) all I can say is, when things are getting a bit much it’s better to leave for a little while rather than vent. There are always a few desperate to win up and annoy on here and make matters worse. To be very fair to the mods its hard to get the right balance if they remove posts they are wrong and if they don’t they are wrong same with banning. I really like both raefil and Nobber they are both good posters, neither one afraid to give as much as they get. Having said that, we need to be clear what it is we want, more moderation or less. I would be surprised if they are banned because both take a lot of gip.

Fair enough Joan. I'm more than happy to fill you in as to why Nobber was banned, if you don't know already.

I see there are a lot of people who are defending his ban, fair enough, most likely related to the fact he has been a member of this forum for very long. But you can't defend the indefensible I'm afraid.

Posting in the manner against other posters that was being used and suggesting that posters are Nazis are fully deserving of the bans issued and while they may well turn around and say "I was only joking" it just isn't acceptable Billy.

There had been enough warnings issued publically to all posters on both sides and the fact that posters from both sides of the arguments that have been going on for the last few months shows we have been impartial.

We have tried other solutions and the message just wasn't getting through and when we had to deal with close to 50 reported posts in a matter of weeks (Jake will have the exact figures) it got to the point where action had to be taken.

Hopefully once the bans are up people will start to behave in an appropriate manner.

is this all, 50 in a matter of weeks might mean at the most 7 per day but more likely 2 per day, if the mods and admins that we presently have cannot manage this number then they are sadly lacking.

You take little or no preventative action in splitting threads or deleting posts instead warn posters and then stupid bans, try being proactive (not silly warnings) and move the toxic stuff to off topic where it will eventually fade away, this is not something new as many moons ago when this place was full of "characters" splitting threads and deleting immediately (also deleting posts where deleted/moved posts were quoted) is simple, easy and reduces the utter crap we see these days.

I seriously think the mods and admins need to take a long hard look at their performances of recent times and realise that they have not been at the top of their collective and individual games.

manage the threads proactively and there will be few if any reasons to ban posters and don't HIDE behind "we warned them", "they should know better" etc etc etc bollocks.

I honestly don’t know who said what apart from what I’ve seen on this thread. I can only speak from my point of view and I can truthfully say I have not had any problems with Nobber in my time on the forum. Having said that, I try not to hold grudges and usually, given a couple of months, I forget or lose interest in those that have upset me in the past.

Im not defending the ban at all, I’m giving alternatives to joining in petty insults ie. leave the thread, temporarily leave the forum or, have a sub section free for all where, those that don’t mind throwing abuse around, can do so to their hearts content whilst the rest of us avoid it. I can’t defend something I know nothing about.

See there would be no issues with having a free for all section of the forum but people only want it when it is in their interests.

We have people reporting things for pathetic reasons and then in the next breath turning round and saying something far worse than whatever they have just reported.

So yeah in theory it's a great idea but it just wouldn't work and would create more problems than it solves.

I have absolutely no issues with anyone on here personally and 99% of the time the majority of the posters bring decent arguments but what has gone on recently, despite the leniency shown, has been a piss-take.

People can disagree with the decisions we have made all they like but it was the right decision for the forum as a whole.

this is absolute bollocks, you were not here when Shaky, Vernons Boots, Napoleon, Voldemort, Shankly Girl, Mars, Sofaofthedamned etc etc tec made Nobber and Raef look like choirboys, we simply split threads and moved the off topic stuff and deleted immediately abusive posts (while PMing the offender as to the reason), threads continued and flourished in the correct areas, the off topic stuff was sometimes legendary but ultimately just died.
recently the mod approach has been very poor, warn,. threat, ban well it's just not good enough, I would politely suggest that a mod election is needed asap and an increase in active admin numbers as this bunch seem devoid of constructive ideas and solutions.

Paddy, I haven’t put much thought into it but, if you say a sub forum would not work then fair enough, I personally wouldn’t go in it anyway, it was just a thought. What I don’t understand is why people report and complain, if they can see a thread is going a certain way or they get involved in discussions with posters they dislike why not just walk away rather than let it get out of hand and then report? The best retort I have seen in all my time on here is Sepp Blatter, he simply added an emoji face to every post aimed at winding him up, it worked, it took a little time but it worked and saved so much bother.

I agree with you about a sub section but, if, as paddy says it wouldn’t work then we have to accept that, no choice really.

As for the rest I would hate to go back to those days. That wasn’t a forum it was a total bitch fest for the angry. I absolutely loved Shaky, and a couple of the others but, I think the current mods do a good and reasonable job and the forum, as a whole, is better run in my view.

Billy. You literally reported someone for calling you by a name that is contained within your username so apologies if I dont take a blind bit of notice to the crap you are spouting.

Using someones name is not allowed, and thanks for proving what a complete and utter cock you are by divulging the specifics about a reported post, again against forum rules, no doubt you are using your mod powers wisely.

I would respectfully suggest that you are not a fit and proper person to be a mod, you offer nothing other than, warn, threaten, ban.

I've not broken any rules. Just showing the hypocrisy. If you don't like the way we are handling people who break the rules don't break them. Not a difficult concept really

paddy seems to be too idle to make off topic threads work, after all there has been some 50 reported posts these last few weeks, must be murder dealing with so many. Joan we used to spit threads every day and the on topic stuff continued while the off topic stuff continued too but didn't impact on the original thread, easy really if you can be bothered, we also used to delete stuff immediately while PMing the poster giving them a reason, again easy.

try working harder at this modding job then and stop bigging yourself up, you are lazy in all honesty and use the stick rather than the carrot.
