Match Day - PNE v Cardiff City - Championship - 27/06/20 - KO:12:30 pm

Alex Neil has lost the fans today. Cowardly decisions, defence first, and zero adaptability.

He won't be here next season.

Hate to say this but I agree.

Sure, he's had his hands tied behind his back without the striker we all knew we needed in January, but we looked out of ideas and inspiration today.

Subs too late (what's new?) plan utterly confused. The worst part of this is that this we'll see key players leave.

We're going to look very different in a couple of months time.

So why bring him back to the club ?

Signing Nugent on his own as our only striker added in the last window was, as you rightly imply, pointless. A large wage blown on an ineffective player.

The ITKers have suggested powers above AN imposed the signing on him. I don’t know how much truth there is in that, but I can believe it.

Signing Nuge only made sense had we also added a second striker mobile and fit enough (who wouldn’t even need to be particularly skilful - see Hugill) to play the lone striker role.

Nugent has shown his uses off the bench. But asking him to play the majority of games, especially as a lone striker, is futile.

Pacify the fans. To some extent for a few it worked for a very short time
But sadly no matter what you do in football the same real concept in winning remains You have to score and more than them
Bringing Nugent back to the club was appalling and I always said so, money orientated not a goal machine he was finished, check out his recent goals ...none

Defend him all you want. I think they need to replace him.

criticise him all you want but there are other positions in this team that need replacing before Rudd. Full backs, strikers, wingers, midfield. Anybody who criticise the keeper and only the keeper after that match either a)didn’t watch the match and Bauer’s calamity performance or b) are just attention seeking.

It's all very well to comp

Just an average player. Overrated by many on here.

I disagree Harry. Browne is wrongly deployed. He seems to be the player who has to move around to accommodate the other, less flexible players. For me, I don't see the need for Pearson if you have Browne and DJ in the side. That would allow for an extra attacker but everyone has a hard on for Pearson who sat in the comfort zone, created nothing, rolled his foot over the ball as if that's impressive, and laid it off slowly to someone else, throughout today.

As I recall it was him who burst through to create to the rebound that Johnson put away for our goal.

It was. He did have an very poor game though. But at least he offers that energy and running regardless of how he's performing on the ball. The likes of Stockley just wave their arms around in the air and fall over when it isn't going their way.

Course he did
And I’m not defending him but you can plan as much as you like to make a nice meal but when you’ve only got corned beef and potatoes in the cupboard your not going to get a haute cuisine meal
pan of scouse is brilliant !!! but what they're doing at Deepdale is introducing neck end and expecting beef wellington

I watched the match and Rudd was flaccid at best, when it mattered. Too small, hesitant and weak in distribution.
