Match Day - PNE v Cardiff City - Championship - 27/06/20 - KO:12:30 pm

We can blame hemmings for not signing a quality striker all day long, the way AN sets us up gives no service to the frontline so we could have any quality striker upfront and still come away with the same result. Grayson had Hugill £25,000 to work with but knew how to get the best out of him and play to his strengths
Already covered the first bit.

The fee we pay for a player is irrelevant. We brought Hugill in as a kid when we were in League One and were able to develop him. The top end of the Championship is an entirely different beast.

Lewis or Phil?
Whoever. Neil , Neal, Kneel, Neale, I don't care. He's taken us as far as he can on a) his skills as a coach b) his choices of players c) his limited budget. a) and b) lay the blame firmly at his feet. c) is down to Hemmings and I can't blame him for not wanting to take the gambles that other clubs have done and failed with. £1m a year is the reported figure he already funds the club with so I won't lay blame at his door.

Right now, let's make the change, get a fresh face in to work with what we have for the rest of this season and let him or her develop ideas based on what we have available. I genuinely think these are a good bunch of players, but currently lack any sense of direction or motivation.

Well the more you create chances, the more chance you have of scoring, only showing intensity when your chasing a game is just not good enough for me

If it was that easy to create chances, we'd all be doing it. Turns out you're playing against real teams who don't want to be scored against, and we can't afford the guys in this division like Pablo Hernandez or Ebere Eze who can create something from nothing.

We're a decent team that works hard, but not a dominant one.

Don't look at Harrop's either.
Or Barkhuizen's

Hugill was better than anything we have up top now.

It doesn't matter what your personnel consists of when deciding on what tempo your going to play at. In Alex's first season in charge an the beginning of his second season, he had us looking to press high against near enough every team. We could play off their mistakes an it created chances for us. You mention the likes of Hernandez an Exe, yes, we didn't have the likes of them back in 2017 an we don't have the likes of them now, so why have we changed approach so much as time has gone on? It was said in commentary in the first half how the tempo was too slow. It's always too slow now an creates very little

Moore at Wigan £5 million allegedly only got 6 goals and 4 assists so spending big doesn’t guarantee goals. Harrop and Johnson have scored more and cost a lot less

Worrying signs today and no suitors are now going to bid mega bucks for Davies or Pearson- maybe a good outcome for next season.
Yet again, we're ending a season planning for the next one, so let's give Storey, Ledson, Rafferty and Harrop significant game time before the end of the season, and accept that Nugent, Gallagher and Hughes shouldn't have a Deepdale future- hate to say that about two of my heroes, genuine legends, but their day is gone.

Massive massive summer ahead.

Pearson will want to be off & we’ve no replacement. Ledson was probably signed with this is mind although he’s yet to prove he’s up to it.

Ben Davies will probably want the same although you could argue we have Hunts & Storey there although he would still be a big loss.

Gally is on his last legs & he’s been a big player for us. I think SG signed Harrop with this in mind but he’s also yet to prove he can step up & Neil doesn’t seem to rate him anyway.

We probably need another keeper & his signings in that department have been nothing short of woeful.

Add this all to a blindman could see we’re desperate for someone (anyone) who can put the back in the net regularly & we are at a crossroads.

At the end of the day he’s still massively overachieving with what he’s given to work with but again it’s so

Absolutely
trouble with nugent as other posters have said is his happy Past with us is being very tarnished with the present totally unremarkable performances

Don't think any premier league team will come in for Pearson, might go to one that's relegated. Not premier league class yet.

Actually, this afternoon hasn’t turned out as badly as it could have done... Swansea and Blackburn both lost and Millwall only drawing at Barnsley.....

we need Brizzle to slip up tomorrow...

He only cost 3 million, and that’s almost as many goals as our striker force combined have scored

I think that he might end up going to a “ high end “ championship club who just miss out....

Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Derby, Swansea.....

5 defeats in the last 7 games has completely derailed our season.

Other results have gone our way again, and IF we’d held on at 1-1 we’d still have somehow been in the top six.
