Name changes

what does someone have to hide by having to change their username?????? 0000-3 excepted

Most of the time, I agree you should just stick with it - but It is possible and reasonable for someone to have picked a name that makes their real identity clear - or guessable. Easy done when faced with a registration process for a website - then regrets it.

Maybe there is a job change (to become a teacher/youth-worker or MI5 secret agent) or a harassment/stalking issue - or an embarrassing conviction 😁- that means it’s best to be sure you’re not identifiable.

I may have to change my username since I've changed my name in 'real life' to 'Trevor' on account of me always buying friends and family cheap Irish lager in the pub!
I saw someone on a particular social media platform with your avatar and a name that suggests it was you. Spotted it straight away.

I've spotted a few of the people on here on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

Having your personal info associated with some of the crap I've seen on here doesn't bode well... (hence why I have an alias)

I don't put anything on the Internet that I would have any problems with my friends, family or employers seeing so I don't see the point in anonymity.

I'm much the same although sadly it can leave you open to personal attacks. Unfortunately I've seen this happen to a friend on Twitter who has been hounded off the platform and subjected to some horrific harassment and slander to the point where the perpetrator (an ex-friend of his) is trying to ruin his life.

I only follow North End on Twitter and have no followers
