If you are clueless then leave it to those who know better. As for the club being swayed? Clearly they aren't as evidenced by the 5 year plan submitted to them a decade ago. They completely ignored the basic Trader Concept theme which is why the Premiership hasn't been delivered. Brentford embraced those ideas and achieved the Promised Land. I watched their exploits v Arsenal last night with extreme envy.

It never crossed your mind that the correct strategy would have by now returned PNE to the top flight. Could I implement and oversee this? Too damned right I could!

If I were CEO the club would undergo a revolution
1. McAvoy fired.
2. Thompson and Gallagher fired.
3.Harrison fired.
4. Ainsworth installed as new manager with Unsworth his assistant.
5.Hoyland appointed head of youth system. Possibility Alan Smart as his assistant.
6.Ripley, Hudson, Rafferty, Huntington, Hughes, Lindsay, Browne, Johnson, Maguire, Evans, Sinclair, Barkhuizen cleared out.
7.£6 million transfer pot made available to win promotion and in this depressed market it can be done.
8.Marketing dept. Turned upside down by appointing a high flyer from a top 100 FTSE organisation.
9. Formalised ongoing meetings with the fans.

We can only dream so fear not as this would never happen all of which brings us back to a club going absolutely nowhere! Enjoy yet another mediocre ride before the inevitable relegation finally hits.

🤣🤣🤣

I am listening to this podcast and trying to make sense of what is being put across as there is a lot of contradiction and very unstructured making it hard to follow. A lot of opinion being construed as "fact" time and time again. There are some small snippets which I agree but most of this is snobbery, hindsight, conjecture - "tinpot podcast" as the host rightly describes it! 🙂

Some my own highlights:
- Tactical approach:
Wants 4-3-3 instead of 3-5-2. Refers to players who don't even play as wingbacks as "wingbacks" - Sinclair never has been one? Doesn't seem to show the tactical understanding of systems and formations instead reverts to wanting to see Man City style football on a shoestring budget - impossible unrealistic demands 🙂
I agree with our pre-season form being shambolic and concerns scoring goals/personnel (Maguire).

- Playing style:
Ched, Riis and Harrop upfront? Why would you advocate playing someone who is not a striker as a striker upfront? Harrop is 25 and only played 110 games with 15 goals - not really much pedigree to warrant his contract extension. Bayliss at 22 needs a chance to prove himself otherwise he will end up like Harrop so I agree with the sentiment there around using him to see if he can cut the mustard.

- Wingers:
Advocating the use of mediocre players - Barker (2 assists in 22 appearances for PNE), Ginnelly (114 career appearances - 15 goals and 6 assists) and Horgan (3 goals and 4 assists in 40 appearances in three years for PNE). When you say "players go backwards" - you are basing it entirely on conjecture and no evidence whatsoever.

-Recruitment:
A lot of hindsight regarding recruitment and acquisition of players - no understanding of the complexities involved in acquiring players. Anyone can draw up a list but getting them is a different battle. This is not down to James Beet - rather its down to TH and PR sanctioning deals. JB only recommends from scouting. The list of forwards you go through - Liam Delap, Joe Gelhardt, George Nunn, Callum Lang, Jens Odgaard, Fraser Hornby is just a wish list of prospects plucked from the sky.

The criminal mismanagement of recruitment, retention and player development is obvious and sadly very painful to witness unfold.
Making unfounded claims about Sinclair unsettling players - Pearson and Davies. Pearson himself has even said buying players on big wages would not have bothered him when he was at the club as long as they perform. Did it unsettle them when he was there - no? They left due to our lack of ambition.

Who is Gary O'Reilly- by the way?

- Strategy:
Trader concept - classic 🙂 Sign, Develop, Sell, Reinvest - It's not three years but steps depending on each players progression . If you follow the three years - they are sold for knockdown prices in the final year of their contract! I like the principle of a trader model and using it to create a sustainable model for the club going forward - a lot of clubs use it but not in the way described.
Season tickets - Why aren't the club pushing hard for more season ticket sales?

Here you go again. Ifvyouvsay you've been the marketing manager of Astra Zeneca I will take it at face value. I did once reveal the name of the company I was working for (huge mistake) which resulted in me being questioned by a senior director about my involvement with a football club after some cretin had contacted them to unleash all manner of accusations. This is the sort of nonsense I've had to endure over the years.

You know a little about me and what I've done so I would now like you to extend the courtesy of informing me what work you have ever done and I don''t want proof.
I'll answer you --I'm a professional Coronation Flag seller.

FWIW from what I've heard, at least two of these names the club have looked at already and haven't been able to secure either. Not sure if that's financial or because we're not exactly the most attractive proposition for a player at this moment in time.

1. McAvoy fired.
Have to agree with Mr Woods here, seems a nice chap but have concerns, hope I am wrong and it will be great to get something like Gary Peters atmosphere (obviously higher league)
2. Thompson and Gallagher fired.
Thought this about Thompson for a long time, Gallagher I would like to see him develop his coaching with us.
3.Harrison fired.
No complaints with this either.
4. Ainsworth installed as new manager with Unsworth his assistant.
Still unsure Ainsworth would be a success but willing to try him he would get some energy back into the club that has been missing since the dwarf was here.
5.Hoyland appointed head of youth system. Possibility Alan Smart as his assistant.
Again, no complaints here
6.Ripley, Hudson, Rafferty, Huntington, Hughes, Lindsay, Browne, Johnson, Maguire, Evans, Sinclair, Barkhuizen cleared out.
How??? Do we just pay them off? There seems no one is wanting to buy as this is a depressed market.
7.£6 million transfer pot made available to win promotion and in this depressed market it can be done.
A depressed market works both ways, you cannot just magically sell squad members you dont want, where is this 6 mil coming from, to replace the same numbers (at higher quality) you will probably need to spend more.
8.Marketing dept. Turned upside down by appointing a high flyer from a top 100 FTSE organisation.
No doubt, but I am not sure there are loads of FTSE 100 highflyers rushing to come to Preston.
9. Formalised ongoing meetings with the fans.
Totally agree
Agree with a lot of those comments @Drunks

Our issue is that we have a massively overinflated wage bill, with at least a dozen players not up to the level and are just a drain on resources. Now we can go back and say they shouldn't have been offered the deal they're on which is absolutely correct, but the bigger issue is how are these players moved on? There appears to be little interest from clubs in L1/L2 in taking any of them, and even then we'll be subsidising their wages. So at the minute, these duck eggs are just sat on a weekly wedge coming in until next June. Frightening.

Clubs in a real mess and for all Alex Neil's faults that people like to point out, he was banging this drum for a good length of time about the squad not being good enough and low and behold those particular chickens have now come home to roost.

Standards have got to improve on and off the pitch and quickly. Collectively responsibility from those guys working at Euxton (players and non-players) and it needs to improve quickly because if we go down it's financially cataclysmic.

I don’t know if it’s the same as you, but I’d heard we’d looked at Lang but been quoted something we weren’t prepared to pay, and Delap but we weren’t somewhere he particularly wanted to come

Not sure how reliable that is tho

No serious attempt from the top of the club to loan or purchase the required quality of players to try and solve some of the squads serious shortcomings will happen this window. We will (imho) be in trouble in January.

It will then dawn on Trev & Riddler that our remaining better players who might command a fee will mostly leave for free in the summer. The spectre of having to honour the contracts and wages of Johnson, Browne, Rudd, Lindsay, Harrop et al on league one income will dawn on Trev. Causing a panic loosening of the purse strings in January to try and put right what should have been put right before now.

It won’t work and we will be lumbered with more league one players on championship wages, when we are relegated at the end of this season.
