That just goes to show where we are now with football. £16m for a player that hasn’t had the best of loans this season is simply ridiculous. From what I’ve seen of him, I’d be reluctant to pay £16k let alone £16m. The lad has potential, but that doesn’t mean to say he’ll make it.

we need a permanent striker more than anything, i would kill for a player like Morris, Akpom, Gyokeres etc but with Riis out who tbf scored 16 goals last season and its not certain he comes back and starts banging them in instantly. Don't get me wrong having loan strikers is fine to help us through the course of the season and see some young prem talent but having someone that can be developed over a year or two is what i want to see.
I do think the way we play hasn't suited him too. He's very much like Riis (who has suffered in the same way) where he's wanting to play on the last man and use his pace to get in behind, we rarely play angled balls behind the defence.
His finishing has been crap but I think he's just a young striker whose confidence is shot right now. Hopefully him earning us a point on Saturday gives him a boost.
He scored 24 goals in the 20/1 PL2 season, so there was reason for optimism. I know I thought he would have shown more progress by now.Man City reject £16m Delap bid from Southampton

For me Delap seems like quite a shy player and has struggled to adapt to the championship but you can definitely see what he could be capable of. In terms of other loan players we could target Ramsey the rb from Liverpool is set for a loan, would 100% take him here if he was willing to play that rwb role, however the club seemed pretty vague on the idea of getting a loan rwb in, Lowe said in January about why it has been a problem.
Delap will absolutely develop into at least a useful Premier League player, of that I'm sure! He's got pace, his touch isn't half bad and he's got a footballing brain for the amount of minutes he's gotten so far. Just missing that confidence in front of goal, exactly like Cannon in his first handful of games. Cannon got that goal and pushed on, Delap hasn't yet.
Anyone know if Twine is injured again? Haven't seen him on the bench for them for a few weeks and can't believe after limited impact this season they're going to rely on him massively in the prem, he'll be well down the pecking order and the sort of number 10 that suits Lowe's system.
Had completely forgotten Vydra is still there aswell although he's like Riis in he's coming back off an ACL. Also got the feeling he might end up at Everton as Dyche has signed him a few times.
Burnley will be letting go of some decent players this summer as they'll need to make 5-6 more signings to have a serious shot of staying in the prem, Jack Cork will be a very smart pick up for top half championship side aswell.
Think it was a hip muscle injury that very much fucked him over in the first half of the season, probably couldn't do much fitness work in that time so probably has had to spend a long time get back up to snuff. In the mean time, they've found a successful formula in their midfield 3 and their two wingers, incredibly hard to fight back into contention from that point. A pre-season under his belt, and I reckon he'll most likely be their creative outlet next year. Will probably see him replace Vitinho on that right hand side.
If DJ goes we should have a look at Owen Moxon at Carlisle. Been brilliant this season.

Bored at work so decided to look ahead to Summer.
No point getting sucked into the excitement of last year and the 'higher calibre', approaching it with a much more level headed viewpoint.
Below are a few I think we will be in for given the price/wages etc:
Elliot Watt (permanent from Salford City)
Ben Whiteman replacement. There's been notable interest in Whiteman and I expect him to be sold for a fee as opposed to letting him walk for free. Ideally we renew his contract but don't see that happening. Elliot Watt comes in for a low fee being in the last year of his contract and I don't see him turning down the chance to step up in divisions and returning to his hometown club. Watt has impressed at Bradford and now Salford and even won a place in the League 2 team of the season.
Conor Bradley (loan Liverpool)
Lowe has been tracking him for a while and made it no secret he rates him. We made a move in January but Bradley and Liverpool both agreed his development would be better if he saw the season out with Bolton where he was settled and thriving. If Bolton fail to get promoted, I think it's absolutely nailed on that we will be in for him and at the front of the queue.
Alvaro Fernandez (loan Manchester United)
Self explanatory, been a revelation on loan and we would love to have him back. Due to his age and inexperience, I think we might have a chance of getting him back if Alvaro himself is open to it.
Zidane Iqbal (loan from Manchester United)
Another one we have had notable interest in. He's been here on work experience and impressed. Would be a DJ replacement for when he inevitably leaves on a free. No doubt we would face stiff competition though. Ideally Boro are promoted and they look elsewhere as the Carrick connection would no doubt trump us if financials don't.
Tom Cannon (loan from Everton)
As with Alvaro, very self explanatory. Will no doubt get a full season out on loan but I expect the queue to be huge given his Archer like success here in half a season. Would need another 'we'll match any offer' jobby and then hope he fancies it again.
Ashley Barnes (free transfer)
A similar type to Chedwyn, old, wily and a bit of a shithouse. Still has the legs to play at this level and offers a physical presence as well as a goal threat. There are no doubt better options out there but I fully expect him to be on our radar as he's free.
Jordan Thorniley (free transfer)
If Bauer is still being frozen out then we need a centre back. Thorniley is out of contract and will no doubt not be signing a new deal if/when they drop down to League 1. He will be cheap on wages, free to sign, has Prem academy experience and a Scouse connection. Lowe will be all over it.
Niall Ennis (free transfer)
One of two out of contract as Plymouth, I imagine we will be having a look at both but Ennis probably has the physical characteristics to hack it at this level. Lowe knows him, he's on a free and no doubt fits nicely into our wage structure. Good age too.
