Danny Dichio was the same. I don't think Nugent would have his England cap if Dichio hadn't been doing some of the donkey work besides him.I remember playing Fleetwood at home and 2-0 down at half-time. Enter Kevin Davies and we won 3-2, Joe Garner hat-trick and 3 assists for Davies. He didn't set the world alight but things did happen for those playing alongside him.

Looking like a very astute free signing, far better than Parrott or Delap imo. What a player. Runs his balls off, scraps for every header and has great feet
Can’t believe it’s the same bloke we had on loan

He’s the younger Ched Evans we’ve been crying out for. What a player. Runs his balls off, scraps for every header and has great feet

Seriously impressed with him.
Massively improved since his loan period here. He’s the younger Ched Evans we’ve been crying out for.
Seriously impressed with him.
Exactly what was said in the car on our way home. I am impressed and delighted with his form and attitude. He’s the younger Ched Evans we’ve been crying out for.
Seriously impressed with him.
Him and Mads are going to be very, very good players this season. What a pick-up Keane is on a free. Kudos to the club for acting on it!
Got many judgements on players wrong but I liked him when he was on loan. Had good technique I remember and was disappointed that he seemed to be on the bench a lot. (Similar to Paul Gallagher) The general impression from the fans then was that he was a big time Charlie; but of a show pony who felt he was too good for North End. Great to see him do well and looks like a clever signing.
Although called offside, he took that headed goal very well against Salford - something we hope to see more of if we can get balls into the box. In the few games we’ve seen of him, he seems ‘at home’ and comfortable, hopefully we get to see him partnered with Cannon…
And the replay showed that it was a debatable offside at that…….Although called offside, he took that headed goal very well against Salford - something we hope to see more of if we can get balls into the box. It was a very well executed header..

Put simply he’s class for this league . Great feet , marvellous work rate, all round team player.. thus far can’t fault him . He’s snuck in under the radar and I think he’s found a great match between player, club and team mates .. it’s actually going to be quandary on how you are going to fit the different styles of Evans, Riss , Keane and possibly Cannon on the team sheet .. how things have changed from the end of last season .. good isn’t it ?
Sorry to do a sanity check Seamus but Riis won’t return until Sept / Oct and we don’t know that he will be the same player…Put simply he’s class for this league . I’m not convinced that Ched will play again and Cannon hasn’t arrived yet…….

For once I share Ando's natural pessimism.Sorry to do a sanity check Seamus but Riis won’t return until Sept / Oct and we don’t know that he will be the same player…

An awful lot needs to go right for the four-pronged strikeforce of (relatively minor) dreams to come to pass.
I understand that Cannon is the subject of an £8 million bid from Leeds, and that if that doesn't happen this week then he'll be coming to PNE on loan for the season for a £1 million loan fee.Sorry to do a sanity check Seamus but Riis won’t return until Sept / Oct and we don’t know that he will be the same player…

I’m always optimist Ando. Trust in the power of the surgeon . Having said that a hernia ( football related took four attempts to get right , a broken leg a year , numerous other injuries seem to take forever to get back but a triple by pass? .. I was back playing in ten weeks 😉 hence the optimism .. Evans and Riss? just a scratch , a flesh wound 😂 we have the technology we can rebuild .. remember me ! Name the movies 😂Sorry to do a sanity check Seamus but Riis won’t return until Sept / Oct and we don’t know that he will be the same player…

Leeds haven’t bid £8 million as far as I’m aware?I understand that Cannon is the subject of an £8 million bid from Leeds, and that if that doesn't happen this week then he'll be coming to PNE on loan for the season for a £1 million loan fee.

Interesting to read the feature on Keane in the match day programme on Saturday. He pretty much admitted that he was talented as a youngest but lacked the mentality and belief. He's been working with a sports psychologist to improve the mental side of his game and, from the looks of the first 3 games, it's clearly working. A lot to like about Keane!
